 What´s Biodiversity?

Refers to the variety of life on planet Earth, including

the variety of ecosystems, species and genes. It
encompasses genetic, species and ecosystem
diversities.
 Why Biodiversity is important?

Biodiversity, the result of millions of years of evolution,

is crucial for the continuity of life on our planet.
It provides composite ecosystem services such as
pollination, air and water purification, pest control,
nutrient cycling, and organic matter flexibility.
 Why Biodiversity is declining?
Global biodiversity is under threat due to various
human activities.Some of the main threats include:
• Habitat Destruction
• Pollution
• Climate changes
• Invasive Species
• Overfishing and Excessive Hunting
Some Potential Solutions
To Declining Biodiversity

Solutions to this decline in biodiversity include:

• Sustainable practices
• Green infrastructure
• Preservation of habitats
• Conservation of endangered species
• Environmental education.
