What is this act?
-An act to strengthen the regulation and
supervision of the practice of teaching in
the Philippines and prescribing a
licensure examination for teachers and
for other purposes.

Short Title
This act shall be known as "Philippine
Teachers professionalization act of
1994."
Statement of policy
The state recognizes the vital role of tea chers in
nation-building and development through
responsible and literate citizenry.
Objectives
A.) The promotion, development and
professionalization of teachers and the
teachers profession; and

B.) The supervision and regulation of the


licensure examination.
Section 4: Definition of terms

For the purpose of this act, the following


shall means:

• Teaching
• Teachers
• Board
• Commission
Teaching - a profession concerned primarily with
classroom instructions.

Teachers - all persons engaged in


teaching at the elementary and
secondary levels.
Board - board of professional teachers.

Commission - professional regulation


commission.

a. Must be a citizen or resident of the Philippines.


b. Be at least 35 years of proven integrity.
c. Be a holder of Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of
Science in Education.

d. Be a professional teachers with a valid certificate of


registration and a valid professional licensed.
e. Has been a professional teacher in active practice
of the teaching profession for atleast 10 years in the
elementary and secondary levels. and;
f. Not be an official or member of the faculty.

* Supervision of the board and custodian of it's


record.

* Secretariat and support service.

* Removal of a board member.


The important duties of the board
• Prescribing a code of ethics and
professional standards for teachers.

• Look into a state or condition which


affects the teachers and the teaching
profession.

No person shall practice teaching


withouth a valid certificate of
registration and a valid professional
licensed from the commission.
PENAL PROVISIONS
• Punishable by a fine of not less than
5,000.00 nor more than 20,000.00

• Imprisonment of nor less than 6


months nor more than 5 years.
