Large antrochoanal polyp
Adhesion
Benign or malignant tumour
Faruncle or Boil
Acute infection of the hair follicle by Staphylococcus aurius.
Trauma from picking of the nose or plucking the nasal
vibrissae is the usual predisposing factor.
The lesion may be small but exquisitely painful and tender
Never be squised or prematurely incised as the danger of
spread of infection to the cavernous sinus through venous
thrombophlebitis
Faruncle may rupture spontanously
Treatment includes warm compression,analgesics,topical
and systemic antibiotic
Incision and drainage may be required
Stenosis and Atresia of the nares
Accidental or surgical trauma of the nasal tip or
vestibule can lead to stenosis of anterior nares
Destructive inflammatory lesions also cause stenosis
Congenital atresia is due to non-canalization of the
epithelial pluge
Stenosis of the anterior nares can be corrected by
reconstructive surgery
