When you have a personal opinion for or
against something; oftentimes, this opinion
on or favor for something is not based on
reason or experience.
Common Types
of Biases
• ANCHORING BIAS

This happens when people rely too much on pre-existing


information they find when making decisions.
2. MEDIA BIAS

This happens when journalists and news producers select


the events and stories that are reported, and how they are
covered.
3. CONFIRMATION BIAS

The tendency of people to favor information that


confirms their existing beliefs.
4. CONFORMITY BIAS

This happens when one makes a wrong or uncomfortable


decision to fit in to please the group of people.
5. HALO EFFECT

It is something referred to as “physical attractiveness


stereotype” and the “what is beautiful is also good”
principle.
PREJUDICE
It refers to a pre-conceived opinion or
judgment towards a person or group.
Prejudice can lead to discrimination.
Common Types
of Prejudices
• RACISM

The idea that groups of people exhibit different


personality, characteristics, and can be separated based on
the dominance of one race over another.
2. SEXISM

It is a form of prejudice based on sex or gender.


3. CLASSISM

A prejudice based on the social class based on wealth,


occupation, income, education, and social network.
4. AGEISM

This is a prejudicial attitude towards older people, old


age, and the aging process.
5. RELIGIOUS PREJUDICE

Attitude towards a person or group differently because of


the particular beliefs about religion.

The students will be grouped into four (4). Each group will be
provided with chalk and illustration board to write their answers.
The questions will be read twice. They will be given 10 seconds
to write their answers and they must raise their answers when the
teacher tells them that the time is up.

Situation 1: Some men believe that they are superior to women.


Situation 2: Gigi won a contest because one of the judges was her aunt.
