Betel chewing
- Origin: Asia and Oceania
- Ingredients: betel and areca nut
- Use: freshen the mouth, blackenteeth
 Ancestor wosshipping
- Origin: Vietnam and some East Asian countries
- At Tet, Vietnamese people gather with their
families
- Activity: incense or offering some fruits, cakes or
cooking a meal to worship
 COKING
- Origin: Vietnam
“BANH CHUNG, BANH TET”
- Ingredients: sticky rice, meat, green beans and banana
leaves.
- How to cook:
+ 1st: wrap banh chung, banh tet into bananas leaves and
ingredients.
+ 2nd: cook it in a pot of boiling water for about 8-10 hours
+ 3rd: wait
 CLEANING UP OUR ANCESTORS GRAVES
- Definiton: at Tet, people go to
ancestor graves, to sweep trash, pull
weeds, dust, as well as incense.
- Appearance: from the South to the
North
- Everyone always does this on Tet or
other special occasions.
 Protecting and preserving
- Documenting: reading stories, song,...and
other cultural pratices
- Teaching: passing down skills, knowledge,
and traditions
- Advocating: Speaking out against cultural
appropriation and destruction
