Prayer Before Class
“Dear Lord, we thank you for this opportunity to gather together
in this online class to study your Word. Please guide us as we seek
to deepen our understanding of your teachings and to apply them to
our daily lives.
May your Holy Spirit fill us with wisdom and discernment, and
may we be inspired to live out our faith with courage and
compassion. Bless each and everyone, and help us to support and
encourage one another in our journey of faith. In Jesus’ name, we
pray. Amen.”
WHAT ARE BOUNDARIES OR
LIMITATIONS THAT YOU SET AS A
PERSON?
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
LEARNING TARGETS
I CAN SET THE SCOPE AND LIMITS OF THE STUDY;

I CAN DISCUSS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF IDENTIFYING SETTING THE SCOPE AND LIMITS OF THE STUDY

I CAN STATE THE SCOPE AND DELIMITATION OF THE STUDY.

SCOPE AND
DELIMITATION
• two elements of a research paper that
SCOPE inform the reader what information in
included in the research and why the author

AND chose that information.

• it adds credibility to the study

SAMPLE SCOPE
This investigation is conducted to determine the
status of teaching Science in secondary schools in Province
A as perceived by the students in Science classes during the
school year 1989-1990. The aspects looked into were the
qualifications of the teachers, their methods and strategies,
facilities/forms of supervisory assistance, problems and
proposed solutions to the problems.
Although the research has its aims, there were some

DELIMTATION
unavoidable limitations. First, because of the time limit, this
research was only conducted on only a small size of population
SAMPLE
who were attending the Writing 3 course in their third semester at
CTU. Therefore, to generalize the results for larger groups, the
study should have involved more participants at different levels.
Second, the students’ overloaded work, to some extent, might affect
the result of the correlation between the students’ motivation in
learning to write in English and their writing performance because
they are required to take part in many studies at the same time.
Finally, the slow network might discourage participants’ interests
and motivation in joining peer feedback activities.
