STARTER:

Deduce the significance of the ayah.

O mankind! verily there hath

come to you a convincing proof
from your Lord: for We have
sent unto you a light (that is)
The verses of the Qur’an are light, the Almighty said: We have manifest. (Surah an Nisa174)
revealed to you a light that is manifest.
[Surah an Nisa -174]

 ‫ ۚ ٱُهَّلل ُنوُر ٱلَّس َم ٰـ َٰو ِت َو ٱَأْلْر ِض‬Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth.
 The phrase heavens and the earth in the Quran is generally used for
the universe. Thus the verse would also mean: Allah is the light of the
whole universe.
 3 interpretations of Noor
 No.1 Allah is the source of guidance in all of the heavens and the earth. Noor is
symbolic of Hidayah, Allah calls Qur’an ‫وأنزلنا اليكم نورا مبينا‬. - ‫نور‬
 Allah calls Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) ‫سراجا منيرا‬blazing light
 .He gives light. Allah guide us to Nur.‫هللا يخرجهم من الظلمات الى النور‬
 So all guidance from Allah. ‫ۚ يْهِد ى ٱُهَّلل ِلُنوِرِهۦ َم ن َيَش ٓاُء‬
No.2 Allah brings the light to the heavens and Earth of physical light.
He creates the light. Shams is a Siraj. Qamar is Noor.
There is no light other than what Allah has blessed us with.

No.3 Indeed Allah is light, the way that Allah knows.

We don't know deeply. When Allah says he has Mercy and Forgive, How
does Allah hear, How does Allah see. Don’t think deeply.
So when Allah says he is light we don't think about it. How?
‫و اشرقت االرض بنور ربها‬
Set a light with a noor coming from Allah.
1- Allah is the guide who gives guidance.
2- Allah brings physical light.
3- Allah Himself is Nur a way that befits Him.
•Ayah 35: The Parable of Light:
•This ayah presents the parable of Allah's light.
•Allah's light is likened to a niche (comfortable or suitable position ) containing a
lamp (or a candle), and the lamp is placed within a glass.
•The glass is described as being like a radiant star, and the lamp is fueled by olive
oil from a blessed tree (not the east nor the west, symbolizing a tree not confined to
a specific location).
•The light of this lamp shines brightly, even without the actual fire touching it.

This verse is often interpreted as a metaphorical description of the divine light

and guidance that Allah (God) provides to humanity.
It speaks about the light of God illuminating the heavens and the earth, and it is
considered to carry profound spiritual and ethical meanings within Islamic
teachings.

•Ayah 36: The Light Guides to Allah:
•The metaphor of light continues, explaining that this divine light is
found in houses (symbolizing hearts and souls) that Allah has
permitted to be raised up in His name and where His remembrance
is done.
•In these houses, there are people who glorify Allah in the mornings
and evenings, reflecting their deep devotion and mindfulness of
God.
Ayah 38: Believers' Rewards:
•The believers are compared to those who walk on a
well-founded, straight path.
•Allah promises to increase them in guidance and
bestow upon them His grace and blessings.
•He does not allow their deeds to go to waste, and He
rewards them for their faith and righteous actions.
•Allah is aware of all things, including the sincere
efforts and intentions of the believers.
 ‫َم َثُل ُنوِر ِه َك ِم ْش َك اٍة‬

 This is the Light of the Qur’an. Others say it is the light of Allah.
 Ibn Abbas (R) said that the light of this Ayah is the example of His light.
 It is the light of Iman that Allah places in the hearts of the believer. ٍ‫ ِم ْش َك اة‬chest

comes from the Qur’an
 The wahy revelation is this ---------------- light of the Qur'an and the light of the
Purity of the heart of the Believer.
 The star set a light
Overall, these ayahs emphasize the concept of divine
guidance, which is symbolized by light. The guidance of
Allah is likened to a lamp that illuminates the path of
believers, leading them away from darkness and towards the
light of faith and righteousness. It underscores the importance
of remembering and glorifying Allah, maintaining a
connection with Him, and staying steadfast on the straight
path.
Seek the Light of Allah
 It was narrated that Jaabir said: The Messenger of
Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
“When any one of you finishes his prayer in his
mosque, let him give his house a share of his prayer,
for Allah will create something good in his house from
his prayer.”
 It is better to offer naafil prayers at home, unless it is
Sunnah to pray them in congregation in the mosque, such
as the prayers to be offered at the time of an eclipse, or it is
narrated that it is encouraged to offer them in the mosque,
such as naafil prayers before Jumu’ah. That was proven from
the words and actions of the Prophet (peace and blessings
of Allah be upon him). The evidence for that includes the
following:
 1 – It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar that the Prophet (peace
and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Perform some of
your prayers in your houses and do not make them graves.”
The phrase “When any one of you finishes his prayer in his
mosque” means, performing the obligatory prayer in a place
where it is offered in congregation. The mosque is mentioned
because that is where the prayer is usually held. “Let him give his
house” means the place where he lives. “A share” means a portion.
“Of his prayer” means, let him do the obligatory prayers in the
mosque and the naafil prayers in his house, to bring barakah
(blessing) upon his house and family, as he says, “for Allah will
create something good in his house from his prayer”, i.e., because
of the prayer. “Something good” means a great deal of good,
because he has furnished his house with the remembrance and
obedience of Allah, and the presence and glad tidings of the
angels, and the reward and barakah that he brings to his family.
It also indicates that naafil prayers offered at home are better
than those offered in the mosque
Surah Al-Noor ( Ayat 36-38- )

(Lit is such a light) in houses, which Allah hath permitted to be raised

to honour; for the celebration, in them of His name: in them is He
glorified in the mornings and in the evenings, (again and again)―
(36) By men whom neither traffic nor merchandise can divert from the
Remembrance of Allah nor from regular Prayer, nor from the practice
of regular Charity: their (only) fear is for the Day when hearts and eyes
will be transformed (in a world wholly new)― (37) That Allah may
reward them according to the best of their deeds, and add even more
for them out of His Grace: for Allah doth provide for those whom He
will, without measure. (38)
But the Unbelievers, their deeds are like a mirage in sandy deserts, which the man parched with
thirst mistakes for water; until when he comes up to it he finds it to be nothing: but he finds Allah
(ever) with him and Allah will pay him his account: and Allah is swift in taking account. (39) Or (the
Unbelievers' state) is like the depths of darkness in a vast deep ocean overwhelmed with billow
topped by billow, topped by (dark) clouds: depths of darkness one above another: if a man stretches
out his hand, he can hardly see it! For any to whom Allah giveth not light there is no light!
(40) Seest thou not that it is Allah Whose praises all beings in the heavens and on earth do celebrate,
and the birds (of the air) with wings outspread? Each one knows its own (mode of) prayer and
praise. And Allah knows well all that they do. (41) Yea, to Allah belongs the dominion of the
heavens and the earth; and to Allah is the final goal (of all). (42) Seest thou not that Allah makes the
clouds move gently, then joins them together, then makes them into a heap?― then wilt thou see rain
issue forth from their midst. And He sends down from the sky mountain masses (of clouds) wherein
is hail: He strikes therewith whom He pleases and He turns it away fro whom He pleases. The vivid
flash of its lightning well-nigh blinds the sight. (43) It is Allah Who alternates the Night and the
Day: verily in these things is an instructive example for those who have vision! (44) And Allah has
created every animal from water: of them there are some that creep on their bellies; some that walk
on two legs; and some that walk on four. Allah creates what He wills: for verily Allah has power
over all things. (45)
