Introduction to Problem Definition
MRI reports contain vital information for patient diagnosis and treatment, yet they often present a
challenge due to their length and complexity. Healthcare providers need efficient methods to extract key
findings from these reports. By automating the extraction of relevant keywords, we aim to streamline
information retrieval, support clinical decision-making, and ultimately enhance patient care.
Objectives
• Implement real-time processing capabilities to enable rapid extraction and presentation of key findings and
impressions from MRI reports during emergency situations.

• Implement measures to ensure the security and privacy of data, particularly in urgent situations where quick
access to information is crucial.

• Conduct interviews and surveys with emergency medicine specialists and frontline healthcare providers
throughout the development process to identify specific challenges and pain points encountered when dealing
with MRI reports in emergency situations.

Proposed Methodology
• Keyword Extraction Model Training : Train a keyword extraction model using a TF-IDF along with Word
Frequency Analysis . Use the existing dataset of MRI reports to train the model. Additionally, consider
incorporating a mechanism to update the model with new reports. Whenever a new report is uploaded, retrain
the model by including the new report in the dataset.

• User Interface Development : Develop a user interface where healthcare providers can upload their MRI
reports in PDF format. Upon uploading a report, extract the text from the PDF and pass it through the trained
keyword extraction model to obtain the important keywords. Display the extracted keywords to the user.

• Storage and Updating of Reports : Store the uploaded MRI reports in a database or file system for future
reference. Ensure that each report is uniquely identifiable. When a new report is uploaded, check if it already
exists in the dataset. If it doesn't, add it to the dataset and retrain the keyword extraction model.
Flow Graph
Accuracy Table
From this comparison, we can see that, TF-IDF stands out to RAKE in case of keyword extraction. The power of
the TF-IDF approach is its advantage of construing the importance of terms crosswise the documents while
taking into consideration the high as well as low frequency of words.

Method Precision Recall Accuracy

RAKE 0.333333 25% 30%

TF-IDF (30 reports) 0.833459 85% 83%

TF-IDF (47 reports) 0.866221 88% 86%

Action Plan
Future Scope
• Expand Database:
Increase the pool of examination reports to enrich data diversity and enhance pattern recognition accuracy.

• Search Functionality:
Implement a search functionality within your system where users can enter keywords.
Utilize enhanced keyword extraction techniques to match user queries with relevant examination reports in database
Present search results to users, ranking them based on relevance or similarity to the entered keywords.

• Enhance Keyword Extraction:

Refine algorithms and techniques to better identify and extract crucial keywords, enhancing the precision and relevance
of of extracted information.
