Signs of National Development
National Development – measured according to a
country’s capacity to produce.

Production – used to measure development because

the quality of production determines the kind and
value of the products and services that will benefit
the society.
Production
The ability of a country to produce
depends on the amount and quality of
its factors of production.

The GDP is an appropriate measurement

of the level of productivity of a country.
Factors of Production
1. Natural Resources
For a country to produce, it needs raw materials
from natural resources like flora, fauna, and
minerals.

2. Labor
Labor plays a vital role in the development of a
nation because their productivity affects the level
of production of a country.

3. Capital
Capital is needed for a smooth and efficient
production.
Ex. Factories, machineries, vehicles and
computers.
Population
Countries have different levels of
development when it comes to population.

Having a big population is fine if the country

can provide for the needs of its citizens to be
productive members of the labor force.
Role of the Government in National Development

It implements projects that directly

affect the factors of production.

It also implements laws or policies that

encourage investors, give protection to
consumers and workers.
