EXPOSITION TEXT
is a text which conveys the writer's
opinion/ideas about a topic.

The opinion comes from the writer's


analysis regarding the topic.
PURPOSE
• To persuade the readers to adopt the position taken
by the writer by presenting some arguments
relevant to the topic.
GENERIC STRUCTURE
1. Thesis: introducing the topic and indicating
the writer's point of view
2. Arguments: some statements which justify
the writer's opinion regarding the topic,
usually supported by evidences or experts'
opinions
3. Reiteration: restating the writer's point of
view/to strengthen the thesis.
LANGUAGE FEATURES
1. Relating verb: is, am, are, become
2. Action verb: use, give, take, teach, etc
3. Causal conjunction: because, since, even though, as, now that,
so, yet, accordingly, consequently, therefore, hence, as a result.
4. Simple present tense: verb 1
5. Sequence connector (word that link arguments), such as firstly,
secondly, thirdly, next, finally.
6. Words that express the writer’s opinion: think, believe, feel,
etc.
