Find the error
1. This book is better than it’s cover would suggest.
2. Its always raining.
• It's is a contraction of “it is” or “it has.”

• Its is a possessive determiner we use to say that something belongs


to or refers to something. ... But the rules are very clear—it's is the
same type of contraction as “where's” or “there's,” and its is a
possessive just like “my” or “your.”
Find the error
1. The punishment had no affect on his behavior.
2. The punishment did not effect his behavior.
HOMOPHONES
Affect and effect may well be the two hardest of all
homophones to sort out, but there are some things that can
help.
Most of the time effect is a noun and affect is a verb:
Effect means “a result, a change.”
Affect means “to influence, to change.”

For example:
The punishment had no effect (noun) on his behavior.
The punishment did not affect (verb) his behavior.
Find the error
• She was standing their
• We had to use they’re car
• Their planning to go tomorrow
ANSWER
• There, Their, They’re:
• There: Used to describe a particular location (She was standing there)
• Their: Used in terms of possession of something by someone. (We
had to use their car)
• They’re: This is a contraction to "they are” (They’re planning to go
tomorrow)
