 First Stage:-
NaCN + 2NaOH + Cl2 <---> NaCNO + H20
 Second Stage:-
2NaCN0 + 4NaOH + 3Cl2 <---> 6NaCl + 2CO2 + N2 + 2H20
Dimethyl methylphosphonate and
trimethylphosphate Treatment
 DDVP(2,2-dichlorovinyl dimethyl phosphate) product often contains by-product
include undesirable
tri methylphosphate (TMPO) ,
methanol,
dimethyl methylphosphonate (DMMP),
dimethyl hydrogen phosphite (DMHP).
 The DDVP and water may be counter currently contacted in an extractor. The
extract phase contains TMPO, methanol, DMMP and DMHP.
 This provides an economical and effective method for reducing the TMPO level
below 1000 ppm.
 Operating Condition:-
pH:- 2.0 to 11.0 (preferably 3.0 to 7.0)
Weight ratio (DDVP/H2O) :- 1/10 to 10/1
Temperature :-5° C. to 95° C.(preferably 20° C. to 30° C.)
Pressure:- 0.1 to 10 atmospheres (preferably 1 atm)
