JOURNALISM
- Gathering and presenting news stories
- The act of writing about news related
subjects for all mediums, print or non- print.
- The complicated process of taking
information and sifting through it, editing
information and its context.
JOURNALIST
- A person who works in journalism
to report the news.
- Involved in the selection and
presentation of what he or she
considers to be noteworthy and in
meeting the standard of honesty in
reporting.
FEATURES OF
JOURNALISTIC
WRITING
1. Headlines- are bold page headings
that summarize the story.
2. By line- Identifies who wrote the
article.
3. Photos and caption- Are images
help describe the events and
illustrate what the reporter is
talking about. These photos
include captions that describe the
picture and what it relates to.
CAPTION
4. Columns- are paragraphs
organize in columns to help the
reader follow the story more
easily. Columns are bodies of
text placed side by side. .
5. Front Loading- ensures that all the
key information is included as soon as
possible so that readers do not lose
interest. The first paragraph of a news
story is the point of the story and the
major facts straight away.
