essential part of life, and it
doesn’t stop when you finish
school or leave the workforce.

Learning To Know
 The right to self knowledge.

 This pillar refers to the acquisition of knowledge and


understanding. It is the foundation upon which all other
pillars are built. Without this, it would be difficult for
individuals to engage to critical thinking or develop their
own opinions on various issues.

 It involves also the acquisition of skills that are often


linked occupational success, such as computer training,
managerial training and apprenticeships.

 End result: Enlightened, Empowered, and Enriched


citizen in a society.
Learning To Do
 The right to self-development

 This pillar focuses on developing skills and


abilities. It is important for individuals to be
able to put what they have learned into
practice. This can only be done if they have
developed the necessary skillset.

 Skillful, Globally Competitive, Innovative


and Creative, Productive and Socially
Equipped Individual in a society.
Learning To Live Together
 The right for self-determination

 This pillar promotes social cohesion and harmony within


a society. It emphasizes the importance of the tolerance,
respect, and understanding towards others. Only by
working together can we hope to achieve common goals.

 It involves the development of social skills values such as


respect and concerns for others, social and inter-personal
skills and an appreciation of the diversity of the world.

 End result: Socially Responsible, Happy, and Peaceful


Citizen in a society.
Learning To Be
 The right to self-identification and self-direction.

 This pillar encourages individuals to reflect on their


own values, beliefs, and identity.

 It involves activities that foster personal


development (body, mind, and spirit) and personal
contribute to creativity, personal discovery and an
appreciation of the inherent value provided by these
pursuits.

 End result: Living a life to the fullest with dignity,


satisfactions and happiness.
CONCLUSION

The Four Pillars of Learning are a framework


that can be used to enhance the learning
process. These pillars have been known to
bring about success for generations because of
their sound foundations.
