STRENGTHS:

 Lonar Lake Wildlife Sanctuary:


• Lonar Lake is a protected area declared as a Wildlife Sanctuary for its conservation.
• The lake was formed around 52,000 ± 6,000 years ago.
• It is surrounded by temples that are around 1250 years old.
 Biodiversity:
• The sanctuary is home to a variety of wildlife, including 12 mammal species, 160 bird species, 46 reptile species, 7 amphibian
species, and 14 mollusk species.
• Migratory birds visit the lake during winter, making it a popular spot for bird-watchers.
 Archaeological and Cultural Significance:
• The site holds archaeological and cultural importance with 27 temples, 3 monuments, 7 temple tanks, and 3 inscriptions within
the crater.
• Gomukh Temple, located near the water stream, is considered holy and attracts devotees.
 Gomukh Temple:
• The temple is situated at the water stream's boundary and is considered sacred.
• Visitors can spot animals like snakes, langurs, deer, foxes, and mongoose in the area.
 Daitya Sudhan Temple:
• An ancient temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu, belonging to the Chaitya Dynasty that ruled between the 6th and 12th centuries
AD.
• The temple's shape symbolizes an irregular star.
WEAKNESSES
1. Outmigration towards metropolitan cities like, Mumbai and Pune from the region is a constraint for the development of
tourism.
2. Other some of the key restrictions to the growth and development of tourism in the region includes lack of
entrepreneurship among the local people, lack of innovations in the locality, lack of co-operation from the natives of the
region, lack of analytical data and lack of quality human resources.
HOW TO REACH LONAR :
Lonar is not very well connected to other towns and cities by any means of transport. Nearest airport is Aurangabad,
122 kms. Nearest railhead is Malkapur on the Mumbai-Bhusawal line. Mumbal-Aurangabad-jalan-Lonar: 600 kms.
Buldhana Lonar: 95 kms. Mehakar Taluka Lonar: 23kms. Aurangabad-Lonar: 145 kms

CLIMATE:
Weather in Buldana remains hot for maximum time of the year. Heat wave in Buldana is also witnessed from April to
mid-June. Monsoon in Buldana reaches by the second week of June, leading to warm and humid weather during July
and August.
The hottest month in this location is May, with an average temperature of 33 °C, while the coldest month is January,
with an average temperature of 21 °C. August experiences the highest average precipitation, with 129.1 mm, and June
is the windiest month, with an average wind speed of 10 km/h. The annual precipitation for the area is 555.2 mm.
The winters are the best time to visit Lonar. The temperature during this season is mild and pleasant.
CULTURE
Every year, Shegaon hosts the Chaitra Masa Suklapaksha Navami fair on Rama Navami, which falls in
the Chaitra month (March or April). This event draws people together to celebrate and participate in the festivities.
Common folk arts in the region include Bhajan (devotional singing), Kirtan (devotional chanting with musical
instruments), and Gondhal. Gondhal is a complex art form involving ritual acts, dances, songs, and poems, reflecting the
rich cultural traditions of the area.
Most people in Buldhana District speak Marathi, which is the primary language of communication
for the residents. A significant portion, about 10.99%, communicates in Urdu, while 4.41% use Hindi, and 2.11% speak
Lambadi. Additionally, there's linguistic diversity with the presence of Nihali, a language isolate spoken by around 2,000
people in Jalgaon Jamod tehsil. The district also features Varhadi, a Marathi dialect, and Andh, an Indo-Aryan language
spoken by approximately 100,000 people.
Horticultural crops:
In the district, farmers grow major cereal crops like jowar, maize, bajra, and pulses such as mung, tur,
urad. Cash crops like cotton, soyabean, and sugarcane are also important. Groundnut and soyabean are significant
oilseeds in the region.
SOIL :
The district has black soil, which is highly fertile having high contents of calcium, magnesium and carbonates. However,
the soil is deficient of Nitrogen, Phosphates, Potash and also humus. The soil has capacity of retaining high moisture and
percolation. Vainganga, Purna, Khadakpurna and Painganga are the major river flowing in the district.
Tourist Attraction
 Buldhana is surrounded by various religious, historical, and tourist attractions, offering a diverse range
of places to explore.
 Balaji Temple in Rajur Ghat, a replica of the famous South Indian Balaji Temple, is within the city
limits.
 Shri Gajanan Maharaj Temple in Shegaon is approximately 75 km away.
 The renowned Lonar Crater, a world-famous National Geo-heritage monument, is nearly 100 km from
Buldhana.
 The birthplace of Rajmata Jijau in Sindkhed Raja is around 90 km away.
 Sailani Baba Dargah, a major attraction, is just 25 km from the city.
 The World Heritage Site Ajanta Caves is located 55 km away.
 Dnyanganga Wildlife Sanctuary in Botha Forest is just 20 km from Buldhana City.
