History of HIS
- 1960s: computers and storage were
large and expensive; hospitals usually
shared their networks with each other;

computers; hospitals were able to get
large amount of information from both
clinical and financial systems

- 2000s: technology has advanced;


hospitals created applications that
would assist in commercial and real-
time decisions; the software had
become much more accessible**
