TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

MY STATEMENT OF TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

I see students as learners who have some great potentials in them and for that matter their exposure to the
right environment and active involvement in lessons will invoke their thinking capabilities and enhance
their understanding. I therefore hold the philosophy that “students learn best when they are given the
chance to participate in the lesson delivery”. My understanding of teaching is that, as a teacher you
prepare a good environment for your learners to discover and trace the path to their future. Each student
comes to class with his/her own preconceived idea about teaching and learning and that it is my
responsibility as a teacher to inspire my students to learn and understand the theory and practical concept
of whatever they learn so as to enable them pursue knowledge actively and become independent thinkers.
APPLICATION OF TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

To achieve this, there is always the need to place premium on the use of
student-centered approaches such as the use of discussion, demonstration and
questioning techniques of teaching in all my lessons. Teaching they say is an
act and at the same time an art which I believe an effective teacher must apply
in the teaching and learning process. I must therefore vary my teaching
methods and as well modify the methods and media to invoke the
understanding of each lesson.
VALIDITY OF TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

The rationale behind this philosophy is that, students may

listen but will easily forget whatever they learn.

To prevent this from happening, the teacher have to let

the students to partake in the lesson delivery in other
to help them not to forget what they have learn.
EFFECTIVENESS OF THE TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

1. This philosophy was effective because it enabled students to fully participate throughout the
lesson.

2. Students attention was easily gained throughout the lesson.

CONCLUSION
The teaching philosophy was generally successful.
