Definitions :
Communication is the sharing of an orientation toward a set of
informational signs (Scramm, 1971)
Communication is a process by which persons collectively
create anad manage social reality (Pearce and Cronen, 1980)
Communication is a process in which the participants create and
share information with one another in order to reach a mutual
understanding (Rogers and Kincaid, 1981)
Communication is a process involving the exchange of
messages and creation of meaning (Gudykunst, 1991)
Communication is an ongoing process that symbolically forms
and re-forms personal identities, social relations, common
world of meaningful objects and events, ideas and feelings,
routine ways of expressing these socially constracted realities
(Craig, 2000)
Communication is defined as a mutual understanding
(McMeniman, 2002)
Development Communication

Definition:
Art and science of human communication applied to speedy
transformation of a country and the mass of its people from
poverty to a dynamic state of economic growth that makes
possible greater social equality and the larger fulfillment of the
human potential (1971)

The science of human communication linked to the


transitioning of communities from poverty in all its forms to a
dynamic, overall growth that fosters equity and the unfolding
of individual potential (2012)
