of governmental institutions and processes. It is concerned
with the description and analysis of political activities,
political thought, political behavior, and associated
constitutions and laws . The field of political science is
also known as civics statecraft or statesmanship
What is Political Science?
Politics from "polis" city; sovereign state

Science from "scire" to know; study

• It is the understanding of the state i.e. principles and ideals underlying its
organization and activities.

•It is the study of a body politic, the association of people into a political
community.

•It studies relations of men and groups, men and groups to the state, and state to
other states.

knowledge about the state's constitution, laws, and duties.
It helps people understand the significance of Political
institutions like political parties, federations, and local
bodies in our state.

POLITICAL SCIENCE?

Why did Aristotle created the political science?
Aristotle created Political Science to study the Government and the Theory it
practices amongst the people. Political Science teaches us learners the ideologies,
structures, policies and many more. Learning the laws and jurisdiction of the
government helps us not to be abused by the appointed leaders of the nation.

Political Science is one of the Social Sciences, Political Science can help us
understand how do the government works, to know it's branches, to know how to
use power/sovereignty right, and how to willingly serve the people and to know
it's laws and rules.
Political system
refers broadly to the process by which laws are made and
public resources allocated in a society, and to the
relationships among those involved in making these
decisions.
What are the four basic kinds of
political systems?
The major types of political systems are monarchy, democracy,
dictatorship, and communism.

Monarchy
A monarchy is a type of political system where the president gets into power
without an election. In this political arrangement, the president assumes power
through inheritance within the family. The citizens under the monarchy
systems have no right or voice to elect their leader. Monarchies are divided into
two categories. Autocracy monarchies are where the leader is the head of the
government and enjoys full state power.
Democratic or Constitutional Monarchies
A political system where citizens participate in major
government decisions. The president or the ruling family
has controlled state powers in these countries. The real state
power is under the office of the prime minister. These are
found in modern countries like Britain, Sweden, Denmark,
and Japan.
Dictatorship

A type of political system where the ruling person has full control of the
state institutions and the entire society. They gain state powers through
rigged elections or by overthrowing the government. In these systems of
government, human rights and liberties are never respected and are almost
always violated. Most of the decisions of the state are made by the
president with the help of police or military officers. North Korea is an
example of a country that runs through a dictatorship.
Communism

A political ideology and type of government in which the state

owns the major resources in a society, including property, means
of production, education, agriculture and transportation. A
political theory derived from Karl Marx, advocating class war
and leading to a society in which all property is publicly owned
and each person works and is paid according to their abilities and
needs.
The Benefits of Communism are:
•People are equal.

•Every citizen can keep a job.

•There is an internally stable economic system.

•Strong social communities are established. Competition doesn't exist.

•Efficient distribution of resources.

Government Structure
The structure of government is then defined by means of a number
of functions managing the state regulating public affairs decision
making and policy implementation exerting leadership which are
considered as essential to the role of government as a life sustainable
system.
What are the structures of
your government?
The Federal Government is composed of three distinct
branches:

legislative, executive, and judicial, whose powers are vested by

the U.S. Constitution in the Congress, the President, and the
Federal courts, respectively.
1. 1. Legislative
2. The Congress makes up the legislative branch of the government. It is composed of the
Senate, also known as the upper house, and the House of Representatives known to
many as the lower house. The Congress drafts, reviews, amends, and repeals proposed
laws (bills).

3. 2. Executive Branch

4. Comprises the Cabinet and all executive departments, led by the president. The
president and vice president are directly elected separately by national popular
vote for a term of six years. They are in charge of making sure that the laws of the
United States are obeyed.
3. Judicial Branch

is in charge of deciding the meaning of laws, how to

apply them to real situations, and whether a law breaks
the rules of the Constitution. The Constitution is the
highest law of our Nation.
