Current environmental status

Nowadays, environmental pollution is a hot topic on newspapers and has

received a lot of attention from the people. In particular, especially the
problem of water pollution in Vietnam has become more and more serious.
Through the media, we can easily see the images, as well as articles that
reflect the current state of the environment. Although departments and
unions tried to call for environmental protection, water resources
protection, ... but it seems that it is not enough to improve the pollution
situation becoming more serious.
 Data on the current status of water
pollution
According to estimates, among 183
industrial parks in the country, over 60% of Thi Vai river
industrial parks do not have centralized
wastewater treatment systems. In urban
areas, only about 60% - 70% of solid waste
is collected, infrastructure for drainage and
wastewater and waste treatment cannot meet
the requirements of environmental
protection. Most of the waste water
contaminated with grease, cleaning
chemicals, dyed chemicals ... has not been
treated directly into natural rivers and lakes.
An example has been concerned by public
opinion, the case of Thi Vai river is polluted
by chemicals discharged from Vedan MSG
factory for 14 consecutive years.
 The causes of water pollution
1.People's awareness:
First, it is the lack of serious and
indifferent consciousness of the people.
Many people think that what they do is too
small, not enough to harm the
environment. Some people think that
protecting the environment is the
responsibility of the state, the authorities ...
while others think that the environment has
been polluted, there is nothing to do "lose".
, and environmental pollution does not
affect me much. And it is these thoughts
that will significantly affect the education
and thinking of environmental protection
of the younger generations later.
2. Businesses are irresponsible, lack of strictness:
On the other hand, the wastewater treatment system in some industrial parks
is not operating effectively, polluted domestic wastewater is continuously
discharged into rivers and lakes, causing poisoning of natural water sources.
Besides, it is the bureaucracy, the lack of strictness in the management of
environmental protection of the state is also abetting the behavior of
environmental destruction.
In addition, the increasing amount of traffic in our country also contributed
significantly to polluting the atmosphere.

Authorities at all levels are not fully
aware and concerned about
environmental protection, leading to
loose management and lack of
responsibility in environmental
inspection and supervision. In addition,
propaganda and education on
environmental protection in society are
still limited.
