Introduction
 What is Motivation: Motivation can be defined
as an internal drive that activates behavior.
Motivation is the process that initiates, guides
and maintains goal-oriented behaviors.

 Students are more likely to have higher


achievement and learn more when they are
motivated.
Types of motivation in learning
 There are two types of motivation in learning
1. Intrinsic :- When student are internally
motivated to learn. Such as participating in
activities you genuinely enjoy.
2. Extrinsic :- When students are motivated by
outside factors. Such as
compliments,rewards, medals and
recognition.
The role of motivation in learning
 Motivation drives learners in reaching
learning goals .

 Motivation, as the name suggests, is what


‘moves’ us. It is the reason we do anything at
all.

 It is important to recognize the fact that


motivating learning is a central elements of
good teaching
Why is motivation important?

 Increasing productivity and performance

 Fostering persistence and resilience

 Fueling personal growth and development

 Cultivating positive mindset and wellbeing


How do we cultivate motivation?
1. Set SMART Goals :- means S- specific, M- Measurable,
A- Attainable , R- Realistic , T-Timerealated .
2. Identify Potential Setbacks:- When setting a goal , take
time to recognize any set back you might encounter
along the way once you’ve identified these setbacks ,
create a plan for overcoming them .
3. Consider Incentives:- : Incentives motivates people a
lot , try setting a specific goal using the SMART goals
guidelines and establish a reward once the goal is
reached. Eg Giving of gifts or money

4. Find Social Support:- Social support from friends ,
Colleagues, family members or classmates has a
significant influence on learning .

5. Track And Celebrate Your Progress:- Keep track


of your progress and identify milestones along the
way . Celebrating small wins can encourage
students or learners to push forward with their
goals and it can also promote behavioral
changes .
