To ask about the time in English, we can use any of the following
questions:

• What time is it?


• What’s the time?
• What’s the time, please?

It’s also nice to say: “Excuse me”


Excuse me, what time is it?
When saying the time, you can just read the numbers and say:

• 8:05 – It’s eight five


• 7:15 – It’s seven fifteen
• 9:25 – It’s nine twenty-five
• 10: 30 – It’s ten thirty

But it’s not the only way… look at this:

• 0 Minutes: o’clock o’clock


• 15 minutes: quarter half
• 30 minutes: half

• Use “past” to talk about minutes that are gone (finished)


• Use “to” to talk about “missing” minutes to the next hour

Important: In English you say the minutes first and the hour second.
