1 What is a Report?
Report is an account of an event or incident that
had happened in the past. Reports are basically an
organized presentation of the facts and findings
about an event/incident that had already taken
place in the past.
Tips For Writing A Report

✗ You cannot add your own opinions while writing a report. The
report should have facts about the event or incident that had
been witnessed directly or people were interviewed about it.
✗ Reports should be written in an indirect speech.
✗ We cannot use first person’s point of view while writing a report
e.g. I.
✗ Reports are written in the past tense because the event had taken
place in the past.
✗ Do not write your personal information in report writing.

Format for Report Writing

TITLE/HEADING
Name of the Reporter
Designation of the Reporter
Place of the event/Date of the event
BODY OF THE REPORT.
- Introduction in the first paragraph. What? Why? Who? When? Where?
- Main content in the second paragraph.
- Closing in the third Paragraph with a positive note.
