Preparations for the National

Achievement Test for Grade 6 and


Early Language, Literacy, and
Numeracy Assessment (ELLNA) in
NAT Preparations of the LEARNERS
Preparations Status
Learners will:
 set aside enough time to study at school and at
home;
 organize study area at home;
 practice the use of flow charts and diagrams in
order to help quickly recall concepts and
principles;
 practice on old examinations;
 attend review sessions as scheduled;
 ensure healthy habits- healthy meals, drinking
enough water, quality sleep; and
 prepare materials to use (e.g. pencil, eraser,
etc.).

Preparations Status
Teachers will:
 prepare to talk with learners about different ways to study for the test
and strategies in answering multiple-choice type of questions on the
following NAT6-tested 21st century skills- Problem Solving,
Information Literacy, and Critical Thinking as well as in ELLNA
literacy and numeracy skills- Listening Comprehension, Spelling,
Vocabulary, Book and Print Knowledge, Study Skills, and Grammar
(for English and Filipino); Counting, Estimating, and Calculating,
Measuring, Problem Solving (for Mathematics)
 familiarize learners on the use of flow charts to help quickly recall
concepts and principles including other possible and effective
tips/strategies;
 organize study groups in schools that will promote skills in explaining
concepts;

Preparations Status
Teachers will:
 prepare list of topics related to NAT6/ELLNA
areas of coverage for learners to read such as
the 21st century skills/ literacy and numeracy
skills and core learning areas – English, Filipino,
and Math.
 check notes of learners and integrate review
sessions focusing on NAT6/ELLNA
competencies in their day-to-day classes;

Preparations Status
Teachers will:
 conduct practice exams to gauge the
improvement of learners from day-to-day
Monitor progress of learners in the different
skills/competencies tested in the NAT6 / ELLNA
 orient learners on examination guidelines and
procedures; and
 Identify learners in need of assistance or
support (e.g. snacks, school supplies, etc.).

NAT Preparations of the SCHOOLS
Preparations Status
Schools will:
 conduct briefing on learners’ parents for them to
partner with the school in preparing their children for
the test - proper nutrition, enough rest, study time at
home, and daily attendance in classes, etc.;
 provide technical assistance to teachers particularly on
the studying of clues and test item types for NAT6/
ELLNA for them to be aware of how the teachers will
prepare their learners for the test; refer to recent
NAT6/ELLNA results in order to identify areas to
significantly improve performance.

Preparations Status
Schools will:
 meet parents of learners and orient them about
the test and the preparations and support they
need to provide;
 orient concerned school personnel with the test
administration guidelines;
 check on the needed supplies for use of
learners;
 prepare various school and student data that
may be needed by learners during the test;
 identify learners with disabilities;

Preparations Status
Schools will:
 prepare classrooms testing including seats
arrangement, ventilation, etc.;
 plan for possible merging of examinees; and
 counter check identity of examinees.

NAT Preparations of the SDO

Preparations Status
The SDO will:
 inform all public, private and SUC on the
memorandum issued by DepED and conveyed
updates from the national orientation;
 account all the answer sheets and test booklets
to be delivered and identify if there is shortage
or excess vs. the actual enrolment;
 identify schools without delivered test booklets
and answer sheets;

Preparations Status
The SDO will:
 conduct virtual orientation on the test
administration guidelines to school heads of
senior high schools, including logistics,
monitoring, distribution of primer from the CO;
 deliver test materials;
 mobilize the EPSs to provide sample test
questions for practice examination;

Preparations Status
The SDO will:
 mobilize PSDSs to monitor school preparations
and provide technical assistance to schools in
ensuring best performance of learners;
 ensure complete set of test materials for all
schools; and
 plan for options in case of lacking test materials
