3. Wind loads
Wind loads are calculated as per IS1875: 2016(part 3)
Vz = Vb x k 1 x k 2 x k 3
Vb = 39m/s(Wind speed)
k1 = 1 ( Probability factor)

k2 = .80

3. Seismic load
Seismic load is analysed by software as per IS893:2002(Part 1)

Type of soil : Medium soil
Type of structure : Rc structure
Importance factor =1(Table 2 of IS 1893: 2002)
Response reduction factor, R = 3.0(Table 7 of IS 1893: 2002)
Load combinations are considered as per IS 456: 2000 and are given in Table
(Ast)max = 0.04bd = 0.04 x 200 x 362 = 2896 mm2 > 603.15 mm2
Hence, ok.
Therefore, provide 3-16 mm Dia bars at top of left support.
At Mid-span section
Maximum Bending Moment =16.356kNm
Maximum Shear Force = 13.712kN
Maximum Torsional Moment = 2.69 kNm
Mu = .87fyAstd (1 - )
21.057 x 106 = .87 x 415 x Ast x 362 ()
(Ast)required = 170mm2
Assume 12mm Dia bars,
No. of bars = = 1.50≈ 2 bars
(Ast)max = 0.04bd = 0.04 x 200 x 362 = 2896 mm2 > 226 mm2
Hence, ok.
≥
≤ 453.70mm
Mu = .87fyAstd (1 - )
(Ast)required = 442.12mm2
Sv = 295.62mm
As per IS 456: 2000, clause 26.5.1.5
Max. spacing of shear reinforcement = 0.75d = 0.75×362 = 271.5mm
Or
300mm, whichever is less.
Hence provide spacing, Sv = 145mm
Sv = 295.62mm
As per IS 456: 2000, clause 26.5.1.5
Max. spacing of shear reinforcement = 0.75d = 0.75×362 = 271.5mm

Required reinforcement
Bottom reinforcement required is larger of 273.9mm 2and 299mm2. Hence, provide 299mm2
Mu= 16.16kN-m
= = .488
Mu= 10.619kN-m
Mu = .87fyAstd (1 - ) (Annex G of IS 456: 2000)
we get Ast at bottom = 89mm2 < min reinforcement
So, min reinforcement provided at bottom i.e. 257mm2
On the left support, provide 2-16+1-16mm extra Dia bars( .61%) at top and provide
2-12+1-16mm extra Dia bars(.43%) at bottom , on the right support i.e., over the
central span , 2-16 +1-16mm extra Dia bars at top(.61%) and provide 2-12 + 1-
16mm extra Dia bars(.43%) at bottom
Shear Force Due to Plastic Hinge Formation at the ends of the Beam
The additional shear due to formation of plastic hinges at both ends of the beams is
evaluated as per clause 6.3.3 of IS 13920:1993 and is given by
Vsway to right =
Vsway to left =
For pt = .61% and pc = 0.43% in left end, referring to Table 50 of SP: 16,
We get = 3.90
Hogging moment capacity at A
3.90 x 300 x 3322 = 128kNm
Mu = .87fyAstd (1 - ) (Annex G of IS 456: 2000)
Shear Force Due to Plastic Hinge Formation at the ends of the Beam
Ast = 299mm2
= 35.43kNm
Similarly, for the right end of the beam
For pt = .61% and pc = 0.23% in left end, referring to Table 50 of SP:
16,
We get = 3.35
Hogging moment capacity at B
3.35 x 300 x 3322 = 110.7kNm
Mu = .87fyAstd (1 - ) (Annex G of IS 456: 2000)
Ast = 257mm2
= 30.4kNm
Shear Force Due to Plastic Hinge Formation at the ends of the Beam
Shear is calculated as below:
Vsway to right = = = kN
Vsway to left = = = kN
Eccentricity = +

The minimum thickness of shear walls shall not be less than 150mm
(As per IS 13920: 2016, clause 10.1.2)
Design moment = 1328.3kNm
Design shear force = 50.43kN
Steel requirements
Area of steel provided per metre length, Ast = 0.0025 Aw=0.0025×1000×250=625mm2
Assume 10mm bars to be used
Steel in one layer= = 312.5mm2
Spacing, S = = = 251.32mm ≈ 250mm
Maximum spacing shall not exceed (As per IS 13920: 2016, clause 10.1.9)
a) x Lw ×= x 4000 = 800mm
