UNI JUNCTION TRANSISTOR (UJT)

• It is a three terminal silicon diode. It consists of n-

type silicon bar with an electrical connections on
each end called Base 1 and Base 2 and a p-type
emitter. It exhibits a negative resistance
characteristics.

• FET is semiconductor device in which the current

is controlled by an electric field. A field effect
transistor is a unipolar device, since current is
carried by only majority carriers.

• It is a four layer p-n-p-n silicon device with three

terminals, the end p terminal forming the anode
the end n material forming the cathode and a
gate terminal G at the p-type next to the cathode.
