LUNG
One of a pair of organs in the chest that supplies the
body with oxygen, and removes carbon dioxide from the
body.

Main function of the lungs:


• The main function of the lungs is to facilitate the
exchange of gases between the blood and the air.
• They have microscopic structures called alveoli which
help in the gas exchange process.
BRONCHI &
BRONCHIOLES
The bronchi and bronchioles
are both parts of the
respiratory system involved in
the passage of air into and out
of the lungs.
Two main parts of the bronchi:

Left main bronchus


Right main bronchus
BRONCHIOLES and
ALVEOLI
ALVEOLAR DUCT
- Knob-like structure.
- Guard the entrances into the
alveoli or alveolar duct.
- Consist of simple squamous
epithelium.

ALVEOLAR SACS/ALVEOLI
- Allow entry of air from the
alveolar duct .
- Gas exchange takes place.
