INTRO TO INSURANCE
Health insurance is a type of insurance that covers the
cost of medical and surgical expenses.
It is a contract between a company and a consumer that
requires the health insurer to pay some or all of the
policyholder's health care costs in exchange for a
premium
INSURANCE IN JORDAN
The health situation in Jordan is one of the best in the
Middle East due to the security and stability conditions
in the Kingdom, and due to a set of effective
development plans and projects which included health as
an important element and essential part of sustainable
development.
According to WHO in 2015, The cost of expanding
healthcare coverage for vulnerable Jordanians was US$
223.20 per person newly covered per year. A
combination of additional resources and improvement in
system efficiencies could fund this expansion.
The health sector in Jordan as such has witnessed
remarkable development and reflected positively on the
health status of citizens. The general health indicators
have reflected the quality and efficiency of the delivered
health services, putting Jordan in an advanced rank
among the world nations.
The overall average life expectancy at birth was stable at
74.4 years during 2007 - 2013
In Jordan, most of the population has some form of health
insurance coverage. According to the Household
Expenditure and Income Survey 2017, 66.8% of the
population is insured with the Civil Insurance Programme,
and the Military Insurance Fund operated by RMS being the
largest public sector service delivery and financing bodies.
According to the recent Jordan Population and Family Health Survey
(19), 58% of ever- married women and 50% of men have some type
form of health insurance being higher in rural (women 79% and men
72%) than urban areas (women 56% versus 48% among men)
