28
 yeṣāṁ tv anta-gataṁ pāpaṁ
janānāṁ puṇya-karmaṇām
te dvandva-moha-nirmuktā
bhajante māṁ dṛḍha-vratāḥ

Persons who have acted piously in

previous lives and in this life and whose
sinful actions are completely eradicated
are freed from the dualities of delusion,
and they engage themselves in My service
with determination.

pious, are they devotees ?

Even though one engages in pious activites,
one still cannot achieve me.

Persons who have acted piously...they engage
themselves in My service with determination.
These
people are like
dry grass.
Devotees can kindle this fire
 catur-vidhā bhajante māṁ
janāḥ su-kṛtino ’rjuna
ārto jijñāsur arthārthī
jñānī ca bharatarṣabha

four kinds of pious men ...

the distressed, the desirer of wealth, the
inquisitive, and he who is searching for
knowledge of the Absolute.
