Product Purpose:
Having a challenge getting students to understand MAP and Common Core
vocabulary? Wanting your students to reach and exceed their projected
growth? This game WILL help your students succeed! Words from the
NWEA MAP were placed in the specific RIT bands/Grade Levels associated
with Descartes vocabulary.
If you purchased
MAP Quizzes, Teacher-Student Tracker, Student Self-Assessment sheet (Not
Included with this product) students can self-assess with each word while
they play the game. This product works great for Formative assessment,
Feedback, and Remediation/Enrichment!
Directions (Preview)
Use this game with students who are at or below RIT level 191-200
The PowerPoint contains two shooting galleries that you can play on interactive white
boards, tablets, individual computers, or on a projected screen.
You can use a koosh ball, dart gun or any other semi-soft object, or select each object
and click to advance the slides. The figures will disappear after they are selected.
The vocabulary words were collected from NWEA’s website and the definitions
constructed from various educational resources and put into student friendly terms.
Hit the object on the slide with a koosh ball, dart gun, or just click your mouse and it will
take you to a definition. Have the student or team guess the term.
Click once on the slide and the term will appear. Select the target on the bottom left and
it will take you back to the game board. Keep up to 3 scores in the interactive boxes.

Analogy

Caption

Develop
A piece of writing that tells a story 100

Drama

laughing, feeling suspense and mystery.

Entertain
A short piece of writing that tells a
person's thoughts or opinions

Essay
When you give an instance to help
explain something you are talking

Example

Opinion

in an interesting way rather than in a
plain or literal way. (Simile, Metaphor,
Hyperbole, Personification, etc.)
Figure of Speech
A note with added information that

is placed below the text on a
printed page.
Footnote
Words that are at the top of a page 100
in a dictionary or similar book and
that show the first and last words
on the page. This helps a person try
to locate words.
Guide Words
When you use the clues (evidence) the
author gives you, and your background

radio, and looked outside at the dark

Infer
When an author creates something to 100
give you facts about something to help
