THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN JOB
AND WORK
It is a countable noun.
e.g. I had seven jobs in the past 5 years
Work= refers to general efforts and
activities done to accomplish a goal.
• It refers also to the context of your place of
employment
We can say work at / for (a company): “I work at General Motors.”
We can say you work with (people / objects): “I work with special
needs children” or “I work with hazardous chemicals.”
Unlike the word job, work is an uncountable noun.
We can’t say:
I have three works to do this week.
But rather:
I have three projects or tasks to do this week.
TYPES/ CATEGORIES OF JOBS
Your career is the total progression of your professional life. It can include
many different jobs over the years.
