connection? How many companies provide this and
how many fibre optics connections have entered
Enugu?

About four(4) fibre optics connections have been laid in
Enugu. They are:
GLO 1, owned and operated by Globacom.
West African Cable System (WACS), owned and operated by
MTN.
Others include SAT 3 and MainOne Cable.
More optical cable fibres are still being laid by other service
providers to enhance connectivity and data services.

We have a number of vibrant technology enabling companies in the
State. These include
Innoson Tech. & Industrial Co. Ltd., Plot W/L Industrial Layout,
Emene, Enugu State-manufacturers of all kinds of plastic materials.

Q1. What are the things that residents of Enugu complain mostly about?
That the State is not highly industrialized thereby giving it the status of ‘Civil Service’ State with low
internally generated revenue by the government.
Lack of good and accessible road networks in the rural areas leading to high cost of transporting
agricultural produce to the city by local farmers.
Lack of infrastructures and other social amenities in the rural areas. For instance, when you travel to some
villages in Enugu you find it difficult to make phone calls or use internet services because of poor
connectivity.

exotic housing, quality health care services and other
basic utilities that make life easier and more

People travel outside Enugu to clear their imported goods
at Wharf.

tourism in the state?
Enugu State has a lot of tourism potential because
the state is richly endowed with human and
natural resources that can support the
development of tourism. However, this potential is
yet to be fully tapped.

Companies exist in Enugu? Are there companies
that hand local tourism? Foreign tours?
There are no company yet that handle local tourism in the
state. Local tourism is still being handled by Enugu
State Tourism Board and Enugu State Council for Arts
and Culture. These government parastatals are under
the supervision of Enugu State Ministry of Culture and
Tourism.

ministry of Tourism for any company that
wants to do local tours (registrations,
permits, etc)?
Yes, there are official policies and guidelines mapped out by
the state ministry of Tourism to guide the Tourism Board’s
activities to ensure that any company that wants to do local
tourism in the state adhere to best practices.

Q4. The brochure showed numerous tourist sites
in Enugu. How developed are these sites? What
are the Government plans for these sites? Are
they already concessioned to some companies?
The tourist sites shown in the brochure are actually in
existence in the state although they are not well-developed
for economic viability.
However, the state Government is ready to partner with any
company that wishes to develop these sites and make them
economically viable.

Q1. The government appears to have a lot of real estate
development schemes. What are their status and
prospects?
The government of Enugu State through the Enugu State Housing Development
Corporation(ESHDC) has a lot of real estate development schemes by which it has
fully developed the following estates:
Maryland Estate
Lakeside Estate
Victory Estate
These estates have good prospects because there are always ready
buyers for which ever category is developed.
