For a long time, food has been a god-like thing; it is

believed to have the sole power to give life and take
life. Although food has been a reason of debate over
time, experts argue that food should be consumed the
traditional way; but as our team stands on the fence,
we hope you are ready as we take you on a journey

Conclusion

As we conclude our journey, we want to take a moment to think and express our feelings about both
these types of food. Traditional food on one hand was created based on the cultural significance and
people’s personal beliefs. This type of food was made to be catered to a person’s daily energy
requirements and was meant to be healthy and filling at the same time. This was hard to achieve since
a person ate one meal a day and hence was extremely time-taking. As a modern re-creation of these
foods, modern food was made to be catered to a person’s time and ever-changing tastes. This type of
food was meant to suit a modern person’s busy schedule.

Although both these types of foods are different, they share one common goal; to fill a person’s
stomach.

All in all, we cannot decide which type of food is better, but we can say that each food is unique and
special in its own way.

Reflections
Ahana
The Unit "Food Beliefs" has been an incredible adventure. This
topic has taught me about numerous diet and lifestyle cultures that I
was entirely unaware of, examples being- Kosher, Flexitarian, and
Halal. I was fascinated by these food beliefs and am keen to learn
more about these food beliefs. My research abilities have increased
throughout this topic, and working in groups with my peers has
strengthened my collaboration skills. Understanding food miles and
the various forms of transportation used to carry food items has also
enabled me to expand my food knowledge. Learning about
problems faced due to glocalization has drastically improved my
analytical abilities. It has made me more aware of market trends as
well as the increase in changes in expectations and desires. In
conclusion, I enjoyed learning about these food beliefs and would
love to expand my knowledge about these food cultures.
Darsh
Throughout this unit, I have enjoyed and cherished every
discussion and learning opportunity. It was a very intriguing topic
and we conducted many conversations and discussions to keep it
interesting. Throughout this topic I have got chances to express
my opinions and my perspectives in class through various
discussions. Throughout this unit, I learned about different food
beliefs and their significance. Learning about food miles and
security has give me a new insight on the accessibility of food in
the world Through this project I have got the chance to work with
different people and enhance my communication and research
skills. I have upgraded my teamwork skills completing assigned
tasks on time and working with my team to find appropriate
information for this project.
Dhruthi
Throughout this topic, I found myself immersed in the topics being
discussed in class and have enjoyed continuing to dance to the tune
of the class. This topic gave a viewpoint on what others believe and
how it important it is to be able understand what others think.
Dusing the classes, I have really understood the need of clear
communication and have sharpened my skills. The GP classes gave
me something to look forward to. My research and collaboration
skills kept getting advanced and it was particularly enjoyable to
work with friends. I learnt a lot about my teammates also and now I
can delegate work based on interests and skills. Working on this
project felt nice and gave a sense of accomplishment and joy and I
look forward to more interesting and engaging units.

I found the Food Beliefs a bit challenging considering the different aspects of
the unit.Gradually I started to understand the unit better.I have learnt many
things including food security, glocalisation and how to utilize points to the
best ability. We have also done group activities like listing food miles for a
better understanding of the topic.I jotted down points and the also made it
easier for me to understand this new topic. We had also discussed a lot about
the topic with Rajeshwari ma’am.This unit has definitely helped me
understand the various beliefs and cultures behind food beliefs .I watch videos
and read articles on straitimes.com about the topic food security ..At first I
was a bit skeptical about research thinking that it would just be a waste of
time but I soon found out I was completely wrong.it was very fun researching
about topics. This topic was very informative and fun to learn and I hope to
have more topics like this in GP in the near future.
