INTRODUCTION

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a set of 17

goals established by the United Nations in 2015, with the
aim of ending poverty, protecting the planet, and ensuring
prosperity for all. The goals are part of a larger agenda
known as the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,
which outlines a blueprint for sustainable development
worldwide.
THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS
ARE:

No Poverty : End poverty in all its forms everywhere.

The first Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) is to end
poverty in all its forms and dimensions. Despite global
progress in reducing extreme poverty, over 700 million
people still live in extreme poverty, with limited access
to basic needs such as food, water, healthcare, education,
and housing. Poverty is not just a lack of income, but
also a lack of opportunity and social exclusion.
ZERO HUNGER: END HUNGER, ACHIEVE FOOD SECURITY AND
IMPROVED NUTRITION AND PROMOTE SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE.

Here are 4 key points related to the Zero Hunger goal

Hunger is a persistent problem: Over 690 million people around the world are undernourished, while 2
billion people suffer from malnutrition in various forms.

Zero Hunger aims to end all forms of hunger and malnutrition: The goal targets ending hunger, achieving
food security, improving nutrition, and promoting sustainable agriculture by 2030.

Sustainable agriculture is a key component: The goal emphasizes promoting sustainable and climate-resilient
agriculture practices, increasing agricultural productivity, and improving access to markets for small-scale
farmers.

Reducing food waste and loss is important: Approximately one-third of the food produced in the world is lost
or wasted, and reducing food waste can help address food insecurity and environmental degradation.

GOOD HEALTH AND WELL-BEING : ENSURE HEALTHY LIVES AND
PROMOTE WELL-BEING FOR ALL AT ALL AGES.

The third Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) is to

ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at
all ages. It aims to reduce maternal and child
mortality, combat major communicable diseases,
promote mental health, and ensure access to essential
health services and medicines. Achieving good health
and well-being is crucial for overall human
development and sustainable economic growth.

violence against women, promote women's economic
empowerment, increase women's participation in decision-
making processes, and ensure equal access to education
and healthcare. Achieving gender equality is not only a
human rights issue but also essential for sustainable
development.

CLEAN WATER AND SANITATION: ENSURE AVAILABILITY AND
SUSTAINABLE MANAGEMENT OF WATER AND SANITATION FOR ALL.

The sixth Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) is to

ensure availability and sustainable management of water
and sanitation for all. The goal aims to provide universal

and sanitation are essential for human health, economic
development, and environmental sustainability.

AFFORDABLE AND CLEAN ENERGY: ENSURE ACCESS TO AFFORDABLE,
RELIABLE, SUSTAINABLE AND MODERN ENERGY FOR ALL.

ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and
modern energy for all. The goal aims to increase the share
of renewable energy in the global energy mix, improve
energy efficiency, expand energy infrastructure, and
promote energy research and innovation. Access to
affordable and clean energy is crucial for sustainable
development, poverty eradication, and mitigating climate
change.
