real things.
• Many informational texts have photographs
that show more information about the topic.

• Rings- circle shapes
• Quilt – a blanket made from small squares of
cloth
• Signs – pictures or words that tell directions

• You can ask questions before you read and
while you are reading so you can better
understand the story.

• As I read this book, I will pause every few
pages to ask questions. I will look for the
answers as I continue reading. I can ask
questions using words like What? or Where?

• At the beginning of the book, I read that we
are going to see many shapes. I ask: Which
shapes will we see first? I find my answer on
pages 6-7. We see circles first. There are many
circles at the park. As I read, I will keep asking
questions.
