THE INFORMATION OF EBD SYSTEM
HISTORY OF
BRAKING
• The disc brake was first invented in
1902 by an Englishman named
William Lanchester.

• However, it was not until the end of

the 20th century that disc brakes
were practically applied.
Louis Renault introduced the drum brake system into assembly with an improvement in brake clogs with
asbestos brake pads and steel brake drums.
• In the 1970, Safety systems on vehicle brakes are
widely disseminated such as ABS, TCS and EBD...
makes braking safer and more accurate.
Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD or
EBFD) or electronic brakeforce limitation
(EBL) is an automobile brake technology
that automatically varies the amount of
force applied to each of vehicle’s wheels
THE ROLE OF EBD SYSTEMS IN CARS

• The EBD system distributes the

appropriate braking force onto the
wheels based on sensor signals,
thereby minimizing wheel slippage
and reducing braking distance.
EBD COMPONENT
 Yaw sensor
 SAS -Steering Angle Sensor
 Load sensor
 HECU- Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit
 Wheel Speed Sensor
 Brake control module
 Electronic Control Unit
YAW SENSOR

Usually placed under the driver or passenger seat, on the floor to measure the center of gravity.
SAS -STEERING ANGLE SENSOR

The steering angle is measured by a sensor mounted on the main shaft of the electronic balance system.
HECU- HYDRAULIC ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT

Hydraulic valves are parts that help hydraulic tools uniformly control pressure, torque and brake-fluid movement.
WORKING PRINCIPLE OF EBD

Controlling the amount of brake force applied to each wheel.

WORKING PRINCIPLE
OF EBD

Three main components:

 Speed Sensor
 ECU
 Brake Force Modulator
WORKING
PRINCIPLE OF EBD
ECU collects the data from each
speed sensor.

ECU calculates how much brake

pressure should be distributed to
each wheel.

Modulators receive this information

from the ECU, and then pump brake
fluid into the brake lines and activate
the brake cylinders.
SENSOTRONIC
BRAKE CONTROL
• Electrohydraulic brake system
that combines the functions of
a brake servo unit and the ABS
equipment, including ESP.

• By utilizing its “brake-by-wire”

capabilities to control the
hydraulic pressure in the wheel
brake cylinders independently
of driver input.
COMPONENT

1. Active wheel speed sensors with

direction sensing.
2. Engine ECU
3. SBC ECU
4. Yaw rate and lateral acceleration
sensor
5. Hydraulic modulator ( for SBC,
ABS, TCS and ESP)
6. Actuator unit with pedal travel
sensor
7. Steering angle sensor
HYDRAULIC
MODULATOR
1. ECU
2. Coil grid
3. Coils/solenoid group
4. Solenoid valve
5. Hydraulic block/pump housing
6. Plunger pump
7. DC motor
8. Accumulator/low pressure
reservoir
9. Pressure sensor
APPLICATION
APPICATION

• Can fully archive braking function

of an conventional braking system.

• Automatically operating the

brakes.

• Amplifying the brakes force and

modulating the brake force.

• Easily networked with vehicle

handling systems.

• Can adapt with many braking

system.
BRAKE DISC WIPING
SYSTEM

• A safety feature for automobile

braking system.

• Actively increases the brake

pressure in the service brake to
remove splash water from the disc
brake.
ASSIST FOR ABS
HYDRAULIC BRAKE
ASSIST (HBA)

• Prevents over-braking of the rear

wheels before ABS takes effect or
if ABS is unavailable, due to
specific fault states.

• Reduces stopping distance up to

45%

• Helps engage the brakes during

an emergency
CONTROLLED DECELERATION FOR PARKING
BRAKE (CDP)

• Replaces the conventional hand

brake lever or foot-operated
parking brake lever

• Increases braking deceleration

and simultaneously enables an
ESP system controller to be used
to ensure vehicle stability.
HILL HOLD
CONTROL (HHC)

• Use a tilt sensor to solve the

gradient.

• The brake pressure is reduced

after a pressure holding time of up
to a maximum of two seconds.
HILL DESCENT
CONTROL HDC

• The ABS system intervenes

automatically.

• The variable distribution of

the braking force which is
coupled to the automatic
driving direction recognition
function when reversing.
CONTROLLED DECELERATION FOR
DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEMS (CDD)
• An additional function for active
brake application with the
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)

• Applied automatically without the

driver pressing the brake pedal
and based on a hydraulic braking
system and an ESP system.
HYDRAULIC FADING
COMPENSATION
HFC
• Activated if the maximum
possible vehicle deceleration is not
achieved even if the driver
forcefully presses the brake pedal.

• If driver reduces the desired level

of braking to a value below a
particular threshold value, the
vehicle deceleration is reduced in
accordance with the force applied
to the brake pedal.
