 1) Mr. Framton Nuttel:
He is one of the central character of the story The Open
Window.
He suffers from nervous condition, and has come to spend
some time alone at countryside.

He comes to village for relaxation to alleviate an unspecified

nervous disorder.
He is one of the relatives of Mrs. Sappleton’s family.
He became fool from Vera’s imaginative story.
He is trustworthy, but his biggest mistake is, he believes that
all the people of the world are trustworthy.
So, he is not only weak by mind, but also weak by heart.
 2) Framton Nuttel’s sister:
She is the sister of Framton Nuttel.
She writes several letters of introduction to her brother
Framton.

She writes one such a letter in order to introduce him to

Mrs. Sappleton; this is how Framton finds himself in Mrs.
Sappleton’s home.
 3) Vera:
She is one of the important character of the story The Open Window written
by H.H. Munro.
She is fifteen years old girl and niece of Mrs. Sappelton.

She greets Mr. Nuttel upon his arrival to the sappleton house and spin the
tragic tale that sends him running away.
Immediately described as “very self-possessed” girl.
Vera is an observant, clever, and above all imaginative young woman who
handily fools the adults around her with “romance on short notice”.
Vera’s name comes from the Latin for truth and her innocent demeanor makes
her tales all the more convincing.
 4) Mrs.Sappleton:
She is Vera’s aunt and the lady of the Sappleton house.
She is the host of Mr. Framton Nuttel.
She came to know about the truth of Mr. Nuttel from Vera.
