FARM MACHINERIES

TRACTOR HISTORY
HISTORY OF TRACTOR

Tractors first emerged in the early 19th

century when steam engines on wheels
were used to help drive mechanical
farm machinery using a flexible belt.
The first portable steam engine used for
agricultural purposes was invented by
Richard Trevithick in 1812 and it was
known as the Barn Engine.
HISTORY OF TRACTOR

 Between 1916-1922, more than 100 companies were producing

farm tractors for farm uses.

 The evolution of tractors continued and by 1966, John Deere

became the first manufacturer to offer farmers a tractor that had a
roll bar to help protect the operator.
Two Wheel
Tractor
2-wheel tractors are used for land preparation.
This includes plowing, land leveling,
transportation and pumping water. The
attachments used with 2-wheel tractors are the
moldboard plough, the disc plough, harrows and
rotovators.
Parts and controls

LAMP - To give extra visibility when working on

the farm.

EXAUST PIPE – Collects the exhaust gases from

the cylinders, removes harmful substances,
reduces the level of noise and discharges the
purified exhaust gases at a suitable point of the
vehicle away from its occupants.
Parts and controls

AIR FILTER - It prevents dirt from entering the

engine cylinders, causing mechanical wear and
oil contamination

POWER TILLER FRAME – It replaces the

animal power more efficiently and helps in raising
demand for human labor.
Parts and controls

ACCELARETOR LEVER – This lever is a

component in a tractor used for (changing gears)
increasing or decreasing the speed of the engine.

MAIN CLUTCH LEVER - A tractor clutch is a

component in a tractor used for changing gears.
Parts and controls

HANDLE – Used to pull a plow and harrow in

preparing ( the speed of engine).

CAGE WHEEL – It is used to mix the black soil

properly while preparing the land for crop
plantation.
(4) Four Wheel
Tractor
The four-wheel tractor is a self-propelled
vehicle designed to carry, pull or propel
agricultural machines and implements. This
machine can make your land preparation
operations faster and easier. It is flexible in
both dry and wet soil conditions, and has
better traction.
Parts and controls

HEAD LIGHTS – Lights up the tractor faith

in the front.

TAIL AND WORKING LIGHTS – For safety

purposes when getting up the tractor
Parts and controls

SIDE MIRROR – Mirrors found on the exterior

of the tractor outside the driver's peripheral
vision.

MUFFLER – A device for increasing the

amount of noise emitted by the exhausted of the
internal combustion engine of the tractor.
Parts and controls

ENGINE HOOD – A hinged cover over the

Engine of the tractor.

HAND AND HOLD STEPS – For safety purposes

when getting up the tractor
Parts and controls

WHEEL – Supporting the tractor and covering

ratary motion of the Engine to liner motion
of the tractor as a whole.

REAR WHEEL – Acts as the drive wheel and are

usually bigger than the front wheels to avoid
slipping in muddy surfaces.
Parts and controls

FRONT WHEEL – A used for steering and are

usually designed to be smaller than the rear
wheels to provide better view for the driver.
