Teachers of English in DRC and specially those of Lubumbashi have been
using theories and techniques in order to make the Congolese system of education suitable but they still wonder which Approaches, activities and procedures can be applied for the teaching of grammar lessons at secondary schools. For that very reason, this paper supplies activities and procedures that can help teachers teach grammar lessons well. 2
0.2. Choice and Interest of the Paper
During my pedagogical training which I did at Collège Rocher des
Âges secondary school I noticed that lots of pupils find it difficult to use wh- words in my English class due to the fact that they did not practice them well with their teachers. Therefore, I have deemed it good to write my paper on " Better Activities for Practising Wh- Word to Third Form Learners". 3
0.3 Aim of the Paper
This paper aims at providing my fellow teachers of English with
some communicative activities and procedures that can enable them to teach wh-words perfectly. 4
0.4 Methods and Approaches
This paper is based on both direct observation and the communicative
approach in order to determine and fulfil the real needs of learners. 5
0.6. Research questions
The research in this work answers the following questions:
- Why is the communicative approach very important in the teaching of wh-words? - What are some of the best activities for teaching wh-words? 6
0.7. Hypothesis
I assumed that writing in this domain which causes much
difficulties to learners would be beneficial both to my fellow teachers of English and to learners. Moreover, my assumption was that such a paper would help teachers of English with their ability to use activities and procedures supplied in it while teaching wh-words in the classroom in order to enable learners learning English as a second language use wh-words well. 7
0.8 Subdivision of the Work
This paper is subdivided into three chapters besides the general
introduction and the general conclusion. The first chapter talks about the Theoretical Overview of Wh-words . The second chapter talks about Grammar Teaching Method and the third chapter talks about Better Activities For Practising Wh-words to Third Form Learners.
