ABOUT
 This deals with various prospects of the Photonic Crystal Fiber (PCF) and its applications in
biosensing, refractive index (RI) sensing, biomedical imaging, dispersion compensation,
supercontinuum and solitons generation.
 PCF is extensively used as a research object in order to curb the positive dispersion by
changing either its cladding or core structure.
 The functional mechanism of a biosensor relies on SPR which involves fiber integrated with
plasmonic metals (i.e. gold, silver, copper, etc.) as these metals are responsible for the
sensitivity of a biosensor.
 Metal /2D/TMD based combined heterostructure opens a suitable study window in the field of
SPR biosensing that finds its application in cholesterol detection, cancer cell detection, DNA
detection, protein and glucose sensing.
REVIEW PAPER WORK
 Review paper are critical and comprehensive review that provide new insights or
interpretation of a subject through thorough and systematic evaluation of available evidence .
 Note, that a review paper is more than a literature overview. It must contain an in-depth
critical review of the literature.
TOOL USED
Software Used: COMSOL Multi Physics.
the COMSOL Multiphysics software is used to simulate designs,
devices, and processes in all fields of engineering, manufacturing, and
scientific research.

1. COMSOL Multiphysics® is a simulation platform that provides

fully coupled Multiphysics and single-physics modeling capabilities.
2. The Model Builder includes all of the steps in the modeling
workflow — from defining geometries, material properties, and the
physics that describe specific phenomena to performing
computations and evaluating the results.
APPLICATIONS
1. Cholesterol Detection
2. Cancer Cell Detection
3. DNA Detection
4. Protein and Glucose sensing.
CONCLUSION
 This paper provides a comprehensive examination of photonic crystal fibers (PCF) and their
applications in surface plasmon resonance (SPR)-based sensors.
 The first section details the fundamental aspects of PCF, including its mode of operation and
key optical properties such as birefringence, effective area, nonlinearity, propagation loss, and
dispersion.
 It provides a detailed sensitivity analysis specifically tailored for bioliquids and bio analytes,
showcasing the potential applications in plasma sensing, hemoglobin detection, cancer cell
detection, and DNA detection.
