during operation or stuck pump after installation.

Lift whole unit smoothly,
remove pump/motor clamp
from intake head (gas
separator),
lift unit smoothly till MLE
connection goes out, avoid
tearing of flat cable and
wellhead flange.
Fasten flat cable to protector
housing with band within 8”-
10” (200-250 mm) from
protector and motor joint.
Fasten the band with band
tightening device. Ensure
bands do not lay over cable
splicing or tubing thread joint.

Remove shipping cap from upper section discharge
head. Check the whole ESP system for free rotation
(fit spline coupling if possible). Perform phasing
with phase indicator
One operator must rotate
shaft with wrench
clockwise at frequency 60
RPM and the other
operator must mark
phases A, B, C on the reel
with phase indicator at
the end of cable line.
This step is to ensure
istallation of all spline
couplings

97

Attention!

With Permanent Magnet Motor do not perform phasing

with phase indicator since the PMM can generate high
voltage!
During running in hole - connect tree phases together!

Do the phasing with megohmmeter
for 1000 V. Insulation resistance must not
be less than 100 megaohm. Motor and DH
sensor insulation resistance level
is specified in sensor system technical
documentation

Attention!

If the well has high GOR it is recommended to mount

check valve after 10 tubing joints above discharge head.
This helps to eliminate free gas coming from the pump
after shutdown.
After installation of check valve through 1 tubing install
drain valve;
The installation is complete after installing drain and
check valves;
Fill the operating passport with details about installation

ATTENTION!

Lead spacer shall be always replaced

Tightening of all plugs shall be checked twice
Make sure that you use correct O-rings and couplings
Make sure that long and short plugs are properly
installed
Check shaft rotation during installation
Make electrical measurements of motor and cable
separately before their connection
Always remember to install O-ring on pothead
Work carefully and do not be in a rush

Actions in case of problems 2/2

Problem Possible cause Troubleshooting

During joint of pump 1. Bolt joint thread is 1. Calibrate with tap.
section it is mpossible to jammed 2. Treat with file, if needed.
screw the bolt 2. Holes do not match

It is impossible to rotate 1. Coupling does not fit 1. Replace spline coupling, clean grooves
shaft with hand fully in coupling with broach file if there are
2. Pump section is frozen any burrs or chips.
3. Improper shaft 2. If installation is performed in winter,
overhang length possibly there is water in the pump and
due to low temperature pump
is frozen. In that case use steam blower
to heat stuck unit and check rotation
again.
3. Remove the shim from shaft end to
get the size, if it is not possible then
replace the pump section.
