Hungary

Made by: Bodnár Eliza

Hungary is a state in Central Europe, in
the middle of the Carpathian Basin.
Parliamentary republic since 1989. It is
bordered by Slovakia to the north,
Ukraine to the northeast, Romania to the
east and southeast, Serbia to the south,
Croatia and Slovenia to the southwest,
and Austria to the west. Its population
fell below 10 million in the 21st century.
Its capital and most populous city is
Budapest.
Topography:
Most of the country's territory lies at an
altitude of less than 200 meters above sea
level. There are many central mountains in
Hungary, the elevations exceeding 300
meters in height occupy less than 2% of
the country's territory. Its highest point is
Kékes with an altitude of 1014 m, and the
lowest point is south of Szeged in the part
called Gyálarét Lúdvár on the right bank
of the Tisza at an altitude of 75.8 m above
sea level.
Hungary is traditionally divided into six
natural geographical landscape units.
From west to east, these are the Western
Hungarian border region, the Little
Plain, the Transdanubian Highlands, the
Transdanubian Highlands, the Great
Plain and the Northern Highlands. The
division of natural landscapes separates
35 medium landscapes in the 6 large
landscapes and a total of 227 small
landscapes in the 65 small landscape
groups.
Climate:
Hungary is located on the border of four
climate zones, its weather is shaped by the
moist continental air masses in the east, the
oceanic air masses in the west, the arctic air
masses in the north and the south-
southwest Mediterranean influence. The
average annual temperature is 8–11 °C,
with a relatively high fluctuation of 20–25
°C. The average annual rainfall is 500–900
mm.
Water drawing:
The Carpathian basin almost entirely belongs to
the Danube catchment area. However, Hungary is
not only rich in fresh water, but also in hot water,
and is even the richest region in Europe in hot
water. The temperature of mineral-rich thermal
waters sometimes exceeds 70 °C. The axis of
Hungary's water network is the Danube river, the
total length of which is 2,850 km, of which the
length of its main branch in Hungary is 417 km.
The country's largest tributary is the Tisza, which
is 962 km long.
