Introduction
• Global rising population, rapid industrialization is directly
connected to increase in energy demand.
• The conventional method of energy production causes greenhouse
gas emissions globally.
• The generation of electricity from renewable sources reduces
greenhouse gas emission and reduces fossil fuel depletion.
• Renewable energy sources are abundant in nature.
• Solar energy can be utilized for the production of electricity.
Introduction(Contd)
• The land area available can be used for other purposes like
agriculture, establishment etc.,.
• Floating solar PV proves a better solution for saving the land
shortage.
Problem formulation
• Continuous exposure of large water bodies to sunlight increases
evaporation rate. Floating Solar PV able to reduce evaporation rate.
• During summer season, level of reservoir is reduced, Hydro Power
plant cannot meet the peak load and load shedding problem will
arise.
To meet the excess demand Floating solar PV is used.
• The panels on the water surface will have cooling effect, therefore
efficiency of Solar PV panels will be more.
• Floating Solar PV reduces the usage of land for power production.
