Let us sing a song entitled “The 3D Solid Figures” to
the tune of “The More We Get Together”.

“The 3D Solid Figures”

The 3D Solid Figures are lessons in our Math. (2x)
Cone, Cylinder and Rectangular Prism.
Sphere, Pyramid and the six faces cube
So, the 3D Solid Figures are lessons in our Math.
Solid figures are three-dimensional (3D) figures.
A three-dimensional objects has length, width, and height
. Moreover, they may have faces, edges and vertices.
face

A face is a flat surface of a solid figure.

edge

An edge is formed when two faces meet.

An edge is a straight line segment.
vertex

An vertex is a point where edges meet.

Solid Figures
A sphere is a round solid figure with every
point on its surface equidistant from its center.
A cone is a three-dimensional geometric figure
that has a flat surface or base and a curved
surface pointed towards the top
A cylinder is a solid figure with two circular
bases and a curved surface.
A pyramid is a polyhedron firmed by connecting a polygonal base and
A rectangular prism is a solid figure which has six faces that
Polyhedron is a solid figure whose sides are
all polygons. Each side is called face. Two
faces intersect in a line segment is called
edge. The two edges that intersectin a point is
called a vertex.

Ex. prism
A Pyramid has only one base,
which can also be any polygon. The
other faces are triangles which meet
at a common vertex.
Triangular prism- Composed of
two triangular bases and three
rectangular lateral faces.
Rectangular prism- Composed of
two rectangular bases and four
rectangular lateral faces.
Cube- A cube is a prism with a square base. All its faces are square.
Pentagonal prism- Has two pentagonal bases
and five rectangular lateral faces.
Examples of Non- polyhedron

A cylinder is a solid with congruent

parallel circular bases connected by a
curved surface.
Examples of Non- polyhedron

A cone is a solid with with a circular

base connected by a curved surface to a
single vertex.
Examples of Non- polyhedron

A sphere is a set of points space that are

the same distance from a given point. A
sphere has no faces, edges, or vertices.

Match Column A to Column B that describes the different
solid figures.
.
Column A Column B
1) The base is a polygon and its faces are triangles a) rectangular prism
2. A spatial figure with a polygonal base whose b) cone
edges meet at a common vertex. c) pyramid
3. A spatial figure having a circular base and one d) cylinder
vertex. e) triangular prism
4) A spatial figure with 2 parallel congruent faces
called bases and the other faces are
parallelograms.
5) A spatial figure with 2 circular bases, no edge
and no vertex.
