01 LOCOMOTOR
PHYSICAL EDUCATION
LOCOMOTOR MOVEMENTS
The actions or
movements that you
do within the general
space are called
LOCOMOTOR
MOVEMENTS.
LOCOMOTOR MOVEMENTS
When you do
locomotor
movements, you
transfer from one
place to another
using your body
parts.
WALKING
A movement in which
the legs move
alternately forward. In
this type of movement,
the arms swing back
and forth alternately
opposite the feet.

RUNNING

Running is like
walking, but it is
faster.
Do the action!
JUMPING

Jumping is
taking off from
both feet and
landing on both
feet.
Do the action!
HOPPING

Hopping is taking off


from one foot and
landing on the same
foot. Hop by swinging
your arms backward
then forward.
Do the action!
SKIPPING
Skipping is stepping
and hopping on the
same foot. Alternately,
step and hop lightly an

while swing your arms
upward.

LEAPING
Leaping is taking off
from one foot and
landing on the other
foot. It is almost the
same as running but is
higher and takes
longer steps.

SLIDING
Sliding is gliding on
both feet along a
surface in alternate
directions- right then
left. Slide with your
one foot first then
followed quickly by
the other foot.

GALLOPING
Galloping is a
combination of a step
and leap. Step first
with your front foot
then quickly leap and
step on the other foot.
One foot is always in
front of the other.

MOVEMENTS.

and kneeling,
some other non-
locomotor
movements are:

1. You can choose your own music and
steps. Be creative.
2. Attach your video on the assignment
tab once you are done.
3. Please note that this is a one of the
performance task in PE.
RUBRIC
Following Direction
Student was able to make a short easy and simple exercise with at least 7 locomotor and 7 non- 5
locomotor movements or more.
Choreography/ Steps
Student demonstrates excellent knowledge of choreography and performs movement free of errors. The
steps are easy to follow and includes locomotor and no-locomotor movements. 5

Energy
Facial expressions, energy and body movements were maintained up to the end of the exercise. 5
Creativity
The video presentation was very creative. Student lively uses music, props, and other materials that can 5
be found at home. It helps the overall presentation become more entertaining.
Performance
The student was focused, concentrated and committed through out the performance of the movement. 5
