Development of a

CBP reactor
Background of the study
• Waste and Waste Valorization
• Consolidated Bio-Processing
• Simultaneous Sachharification and Fermentation
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
• Potential environmental pollution and health hazards due to
conventional waste disposal methods
• Increased contamination and inhibitory effect associated with
Separate Hydrolysis and Fermentation
• Single Product Valorization does not fully utilize the potential of waste
material
AIMS
• kitchen waste valorization for
multiproduct formation.

OBJECTIVES
• Validation of the model and
simulation of the process’
• Kinetic modelling of the SSF
process for bioethanol
production
It will provide a more ecofriendly method of waste
management

To provide a top-down valorization of waste

SIGNIFICANC
E OF THE To Optimise waste valorization by obtaining multi-
product

STUDY
To proffer solution to problems associated with SHF

It will provide a cost-effective modular approach to

waste valorization,
SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS
• Production of bioethanol by simultaneous saccharification and
fermentation, production of biodiesel by transesterification reaction,
production of manure by composting.
• Kinetic model based on Michaelis - Menten and Monod type
equations for enzyme kinetics and cell growth. The saccharification
modell of SSF is based on Michaelis-Menten kinetics and enzyme
inhibition kinetics while the fermentation of the SSF is based on the
Monod equation.
• The simulation of the process was carried out using SuperPro
Designer.
