 Physician– board passer, graduate of basic training course in occupational medicine

 Dentist – board passer, completed basic training course in occupational dentistry

OSH STANDARDS:
 Cooperate w/ the employer in carrying out the provisions of the Standards.
 Report to his superior any work hazard that may be discovered in his workplace.
 Make proper use of all safeguards & safety devices furnished for his protection & that of others. Duties of Workers
 Follow all instructions given by the employer in compliance w/ the OSHS provisions.

 Provide a safe place of employment .


 Give complete job safety instructions to all workers.

 It shall be the duty of any person, including and builder or contractor or

RULE 1412. 01 Health and Safety Committee
Duties of the Employers:
 Establishes and adopts written administrative policies on safety in
conformity with OSHS.
 Reports to the enforcing authority the policies adopted and the safety
organization established within one month after the organization of the HSC

RULE 1040- Health and Safety Committee


Duties of the Employers:

 Report to the enforcing authority at least once in every three (3) months, the
minutes of HSC meetings, recommendations and safety measures taken.
 Acts on the recommendation s of the HSC
RULE 1050 – Notification & Keeping of Accident and/ or
Occupation Illnesses

 The employer shall maintain and keep an accident or illness record which
shall be open at all times for inspection to authorized personnel
 All work accidents/ illnesses resulting to disabling injuries shall be
reported to DOLE
RULE 1960 - Occupational Safety and Health Services

subdivision, government owned and controlled corporations.

RULE 1417- 1418: DEMOLITION

1. Structures over 6m high must be under the supervision of a competent person


2. The area is strictly for demolition workers only in ( Demolition area – w/in a
distance equal to 1.5 x H of structure
3. If the above distance is not possible, the structure shall be fenced around
4. Danger signs should be posted around the structure
5. Ensure all electrical services are cut-off
6. Demolition should proceed storey by storey, in a descending order; work on the
upper floors should be completely over before removing the supporting
members on the lower floor
7. No part of the structure shall be overloaded w/ debris or mat’ls
8. Stairs (incl. railings), passageways & ladders should be demolished last.

 Manufacturing industry had the highest cases


Occupational injuries

 A total of 46, 655 of occupational accident were


recorded in 2011. The accidents resulted to 48, 975
cases of occupational injuries (Figure 1)

RULE 1032: DEFINITIONS

Safety Officer
 Refers to any employee/worker trained & tasked
to implement occupational safety and health
programs in the workplace in accordance w/ the
provisions of the Standards & shall be synonymous
to the term “Safety Man” as used in these
standards.
RULE 1047 OF THE OSHS:
 The principal function of the Safety Man is to act as the employers’ principal assistant & consultant
in the application of programs to remove the hazards from the workplace & to correct unsafe work
practices.
 Serves as Secretary to the Health & Safety Committee
 Acts in an advisory capacity on all matters pertaining to health & safety for the guidance of the
employer & the workers
 Conducts investigation of accidents as member of the Health & safety Committee & submits his
separate report & analysis of accidents to the employer
 Coordinates all health & safety training programs for the employees & employer
 Conducts health & safety inspection as member of the committee
 Maintain or help in the maintenance of an efficient accident record system & coordinates actions
taken
by supervisors to eliminate accident causes
 Provides assistance to government agencies in the conduct of safety & health inspection, accident
investigation or any other related programs
 For purposes of effectiveness in a workplace where full-time safety officer is required, he shall report
directly to the employer.
