1.History of the company

• Elecon starting making it's presence felt in industrial scenario in most productive and enriching
manner. This process has its root as far back as 1951.

• A small beginning, that was destined to have a glorious present and spectacular future was made in
1951 in Bombay by a dynamic visionary late Shri Ishwar Bhai B Patel.

• A small firm indigenously manufacturing conveying equipment's started spreading its wings in the area
so far unexplored, resulting in valuable savings in foreign exchange outflow. With obvious increase in
business operations, it was converted into a Private Limited Company on 11th January 1960.

• On formation of a separate Gujarat State in May 1960, with a view to contribute towards the
development of home-land Gujarat, Elecon shifted its base to Vallabh Vidyanagar, and became a Public
Limited Company soon after.

5.Role of student in company

The role of student in compony is an intern. Student should watch full process of
fabrication gear and gear box. As intern student is don’t allowed to touch and use any kind
of machinery as well as component because of the fear of damaging the expansive
component. They are assigned with the task after the orientation is over. The tasks are
simple as to watch and determine the time required to assemble a full gear box, etc.
Intern have to understand all the processes top to bottom while the orientation process. The
head of each department have to teach the process of their department and after that sign
the orientation document for proof that student has perfectly understand the whole process.
Student might have queries about something they can ask anyone from an engineer to a
worker but they have to make sure that they aren’t disturbing any one in the process.
Introduction to Internship
 PURPOSE:

An internship can give you the opportunity to gain hands-on

experience in an industry that interests you before you
progress further into your educational path. It can also
enhance the qualifications on your resume. Exploring the
benefits of being an intern can help you decide if this type of
program is right for you and your career goals.

 OBJECTIVE:

• Empower human resources to promote

entrepreneurship, team spirit leading to value
enhancement for our Customers and Stakeholders.
• Follow environment friendly practices to protect
environment and continuously review and improve
products and processes throughout the supply
chain.
• Upliftment of society at large and well being of our
employees.
VISION
Create Global Presence in power transmission by innovating
and developing products to enhance value and satisfaction of
our customers.
We adopt to the changes and meet the challenges by creative
entrepreneurship, empowered teamwork, continuous
improvements ,environment friendly practices and optimize
profits to delight our stakeholders.
Problem Statement
Problem 1: Gear Tooth Profile Error and misalignment
Problem 2: Surface Finish
Problem 3: Development of fast gearbox
Problem 1: Gear Tooth Profile Error and misalignment

 problem that can occur during gearbox

production is misalignment.

 This happens when the gears are not properly

aligned with each other, which can lead to
increased friction and wear on the gears.

 One of the major problems faced by the

company is in gear manufacturing which is
gear tooth profile error. This occurs when the
gear teeth do not have the correct shape or
size, resulting in poor performance and
reliability of the gear
Problem 2: Surface Finish

 Another challenge of using a good quality

gear production is achieving the necessary
surface finish.
 Gears need to have a smooth surface finish
in order to minimize friction and prevent
wear and tear.
 This problem is particularly challenging
when it comes to printing complex gears with
intricate shapes and designs, as these can be
difficult to print with a smooth surface finish.
 However, 3D printing can result in a rough
surface finish that is not suitable for gears.
Problem 3:Development of fast gearbox

 The average time consumed to make a

complete gear takes much more time with the
wastage of time and the lubrication used for
cutting it.
 To develop a reliable product that meets
market demand, gear tooth performance
needs to be evaluated quickly, regardless of
construction material and manufacturing
processes.
 Performance parameters, such as tooth
bending, surface and stress and tooth
detection contribute to tooth gear failure.
SOLUTIONS
SOLUTION 1: For Gear Tooth Profile Error and misalignment

 To overcome this problem, Elecon has implemented

advanced computer-aided design (CAD) software and 3D
printing that allows for precise measurement and analysis of
the gear tooth profile. This helps in reducing and giving
minor errors in the gear tooth profile before it goes into
production.

 To prevent misalignment,3D printing can be implemented

for precision manufacturing techniques and strict quality
control measures throughout the production process.
Additionally, regular inspections are conducted to ensure that
the gears are properly aligned and functioning as intended.
Solution 2:

Post-Processing Techniques

 To address the problem of surface finish, post-

processing techniques can be used to smooth out the
surface of 3D printed gears. These techniques include
sanding, polishing, and chemical treatments that can
improve the surface finish of the gear.
 While post-processing can add additional time and cost
to the manufacturing process, it is necessary to ensure
that the gears meet the necessary specifications for
quality and performance.
Solution 3: Development of fast gearbox

 Gear geometry, especially the involute profile of the

tooth, is the most important element in gear designee
engineers constructed a 3-D model of gear and pinion
while maintaining the optimized profile of teeth .
 They applied local high mesh refreshment at the contact
region. And keeps the space that the meshing teeth stays
in a good position where the mesh happens and works
smoothly.
 As 3D gears which can be made by 3D printer can be
effective which reduces the cost of the material wastage
and which majorly saves the money of lubrication which
can be reduced.
Benefits

 Obtained accurate results along with extensive,

customized reports of loads, stresses, deformation
and transmission (gearbox) errors.
 Identified potential failure modes early in the
product development cycle.
 These saves the overall wastage of lubrication and
may help to reduce the wear and tear of the
expensive manufacturing of the gear.
 This avoided excessive prototype testing.
 Employed a virtual testing environment
throughout 3D design lifecycle.
 Quickly designed reliable gears to meet customer
demands.
