Co-Deployment describes the option to install SAP
GTS on the same system instance than SAP S/4
HANA, but in a separated client.

Co-deployment is not to be confused with

“embedded”.
Co-deployment Since the introduction of SAP S/4 HANA, it has not
been possible to co-deploy any GTS version. It was
Shared Infrastructure
Lower TCO possible with SAP ECC releases only.
Lower Entry Level Investments

If co-deployment is feasible for your system

landscape is an individual decision.
Standalone vs. Co-deployment

Standalone Co-deployment

• SAP GTS serves as a central system • Identical system availability of S/4HANA

Advantages

• Upgrades & Legal Changes can be and SAP GTS

applied with limited dependencies to • Fewer systems required and therefore
other systems lower TCO compared to the hub-
deployment
Disadvantages

• System availability must be managed • GTS Upgrades might have an effect on

additionally the S/4HANA system availability
• Larger system landscape and higher • Database size will increase, especially if
TCO GTS is connected to multiple feeder
systems

What Made Co-deployment Possible Again?

SAP GTS and SAP S/4 HANA have to use a distinct set of application objects. This separation was not
completely secured between the two applications earlier.

Efforts haven been undertaken to establish a clear separation by renaming affected objects in SAP GTS.

As an example, Database table /SAPSLL/LCLIC is used in S/4 and GTS, and is renamed in GTS now to
/SAPSLL/LICHD. So Database table /SAPSLL/LCLIC does not exist in GTS any more. Important to know is
that only the name changes, not the definition itself.

What is the minimum requirement for the used software versions?

• S/4 HANA 2022 on S/4 Foundation 2022 SP02
• GTS, edition for SAP HANA 2023 on S/4 Foundation 2022 SP02

Consequences of Renaming of Objects

The software component will be switched from SLL-LEG to GTSCORE.

The Application Component Hierarchy will change from SLL-LEG to FT-LEG.

Namespace /ECRS/ will change into namespace /ECRG/.

Custom Code will show a syntax-error after conversion in case old objects are used, so this has to be taken
care of by the conversion project.

Please see Conversion / Upgrade Guide for more information.

© 2023 SAP SE or an SAP affiliate company. All rights reserved. ǀ PARTNER 8

How is Renaming Performed

The change of the software component from SLL-LEG to GTSCORE is modelled as a conversion. This
means the old component is uninstalled, and the new one installed.

As GTSCORE does not include the old database tables any more, a SUM phase has been introduced to
copy the content from the old ones to the new/renamed ones during the conversion. This would not be
possible by an upgrade.

Other objects not containing content, like data elements, have been replaced by semantically identical ones
with a different name (often with *_N)

How to Move to Co-deployment

SAP ECC with GTS add-on:

A direct conversion is possible if ECC and GTS have different clients.

SAP S/4HANA 2022 and New GTS:

Install GTS on top of S/4HANA

SAP S/4HANA 2022 with Existing GTS:

Install on top with DMLT Services(Data Management and Landscape Transformation Services) migrating
data from the old Hub System

Be Aware!

SAP GTS, edition for SAP HANA 2020 cannot be supported on a S/4 Foundation higher than
2021.

S/4 Foundation 2022 is a prerequisite to trigger the conversion process in SUM for the renaming
of the table.

If a customer would start already with S/4 Foundation 2022 when upgrading, the SUM phase
would not be executed, leading to a data loss.

Future Proof Framework for Additional Agencies
Partner Government Agency

A PGA (Partner Government Agency) is a government agency that works alongside the Customs and
Border Protection (CBP) that regulate commodities exported or imported into the U.S.
Some PGAs include:

 Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS)

 Federal Drug Administration (FDA)
 Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
 Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF)
 National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)

Products that are regulated by PGAs often require permits or other additional documentation, so many
PGAs have their own import guides.
It is the importer’s responsibility to be aware of what they need

Partner Government Agency

The PGA information which can be reported through ACE is quite extensive and therefore organized in
‘Records’ and ‘Fields’ – see Participating Government Agencies Message Set for a full list of available
records and their fields.
Not all of these records and fields are supported by every agency, so each agency has published an
implementation guide with detailed instructions – see for example PGA Message Set for Shipments
Subject to NHTSA Regulations
It depends on the nature of the product, by which agencies the import is regulated. This information can
be derived from the HTS code of the product. If the HTS code has one or more ‘Agency Tariff Code’
assigned, the product is regulated by the agencies defined in the ACE Agency Tariff Code Reference.

Customizing

The new PGA solution needs to be activated for the respective numbering scheme to replace the older
solution:

The agency and program specific format definition of records

and fields will not be shipped but must be maintained by the
PGA experts of the company.
The necessary IMG activities can be found in the IMG: ‘SAP
Global Trade Services, edition for SAP HANA ‘à’ General
Settings’à’ Partner Government Agencies (PGA)’

PGA Datasets

There is a new section in the product to maintain all requires PGA information. The required agencies and
programs are derived from the relevance code of the classification – hence the ‘Valid On’ information is
mandatory.

PGA Datasets

A PGA dataset defines the information to be sent for a specific agency & program, moreover this information
might depend on supplier and date:

PGA Datasets
When the data set is created, a tree with all mandatory records for this agency & program appears. By
choosing a record, the available fields (data elements) are displayed and the desired values can be entered.
