BADMINTON
BADMINTON
Badminton are active dual sports. The game
are played with an opponent across the
playing field. Although these games are
commonly played in singles (meaning, one
player plays against only one opponent), there
are also instances where the game involved
doubles (meaning, two players play against
two players).
Whichever way you play these games, these
dual sports bring about a lot of teamwork
among the players.
Some researchers said that
the nature of badminton
rooted from the traditional
Chinese sport Jianzi. It aims
to keep heavily weighted
feathers (shuttlecock) in the
air using the player’s body.
Badminton originated from battledore and shuttlecock that was seen
in Greece, China, Japan, and India during the 16" century in England. It
was played in court where the battledore (paddle) hits the shuttlecock
(bird) back and forth. From there, it spread out to the whole world. In
Europe, it was called jeu de volant. The British armies acquired this
game in India and brought the materials to England during the 1870's.
In 1877, the Badminton Club was created to set the first official rules.
In 1992, badminton was officially introduced in Barcelona Olympics.
BASIC RULES AND REGULATION
• A badminton match begins with a serve.
• A player cannot serve or start the game unless his opponent gets ready.
• While performing a serve, the player’s feet should not go beyond the
boundary lines.
• A player is not allowed to muddle his opponent by any means during the
match.
• A player is also not allowed to fling or hold the shuttle on the racket bed
for too long.
• A player cannot hit the shuttlecock over the net or before it enters his court.
BASIC RULES ANDREGULATION
• Generally, a badminton match begins with 0-0 points, and when the server
scores a point in even number then he needs to serve from the right side of the
court and when he score in odd, then he needs to serve from the left side of the
court.
• If the score is 20-20 a side must win by two clear points to win the game if it
reaches 29-29, the first to get their 30th point wins.
• If the receiver wins a rally, he scores a point and becomes the new server.
• A badminton match is played in three sets of 21 points each. To win a
badminton match a team has to win two sets out of these three.
• The side that wins the game becomes the one to serve first in the next game.
FAULTS
• A player cannot perform a serve
from above his waistline.
• A player is not allowed to jump
or move while performing a
service.
• The shuttlecock should not
touch the player’s body or
clothes.
• A player cannot touch the net
during the match.
• A player can also not hit the
shuttlecock twice.
EQUIPMENTS
Equipment Used in Playing Badminton
To be able to play badminton, the
players must have a racket, shuttlecock
and net. There has to be a badminton
court where the players will play.

The game of table tennis was invented in England during the 19th
century. It is played on a full-size table-tennis table. The table
measures 9 feet by 5 feet, and with a height of 3.5 feet. It is divided
by a 6-inch high. The ball used comes in different colors, and is
made of light celluloid are plastic material. The rackets, or bats being
used, may be of any size, shape, or weight. They must have a thin
wooden blade, which are usually padded with rubber materials.
